Summary: “You still want to do this?” Ray asks as Mikey slowly pushes himself from the leather couch with a squeak and he nods, standing still for a moment.
“Yeah, I’ve needed this gone for a while now...” Mikey nods as he talks before sighing, looking down at his left inner arm where the tattoo is placed, every time he looks at it he remembers her matching piece, enough to make the forthcoming pain worth it in the end.

Mikey always thought that sitting in the waiting room this time around was going to be the same as spending the day at his boyfriend’s shop like he usually does, helping at the front desk and taking deposits, selling aftercare products and taking calls but this time, oh it’s different. His palms are sweating and he’s sat on the large leather sofa at the edge of the room near the door, staring over at the front desk nervously.

He jumps when Ray walks out from the back room, black latex gloves in his hand. He starts to pull them on as he slots his long fingers in and snaps at the material as it reaches his wrist, flexing his fingers before rubbing his hands together. He smiles at Mikey who’s looking completely terrified.

“You still want to do this?” Ray asks as Mikey slowly pushes himself from the leather couch with a squeak and he nods, standing still for a moment.

“Yeah, I’ve needed this gone for a while now...” Mikey nods as he talks before sighing, looking down at his left inner arm where the tattoo is placed, every time he looks at it he remembers her matching piece, enough to make the forthcoming pain worth it in the end.

“It is pretty ugly...” Ray grins as he reaches out for Mikey’s hand and pulls him in to the back room, instructing him to sit down on the black leather chair and relax. Mikey scoffs because really, relax? He grips at the sides of the chair as he watches Ray set up, spraying down all surfaces with disinfectant and grabbing Mikey a can of Coke before he sits down at the side of him.

“Sugar levels, really?” Mikey looks down at the can and presses his head against the back of the chair.

“I never said this was going to be easy!” Ray protests but leans forward to kiss at Mikey’s lips. “Just keep it there in case you feel woozy, alright?”

Mikey nods and takes a deep breath, watching as Ray switches the machine on.

He’s heard that laser tattoo removal is worse than the actual pain of getting the tattoo and really, they were wrong. It hurts more than getting the damn tattoo did in the first place.

Ray looks at him apologetically every time the tube flashes and another beam of light is pressed against Mikey’s skin, feeling like a hot rubber band snapping against his skin. It hurts, it really hurts but as Mikey turns his head against the back of the chair and watches his boyfriend as he works, slowly staring to remove that part of his past, he knows he’s doing the right thing.

The first session only lasts around twenty minutes. It feels like a life time for Mikey though when Ray finally turns the machine off and sits back, looking down at his boyfriend’s arm.

“That’s going to hurt in the morning.” He muses and Mikey scowls, wincing as he moves his arm a little.

“It hurts now.” He states and Ray leans forward to peck at his lips before moving from his chair and walking to the freezer in the corner of the room to pull an ice-pack out. He covers it in plastic wrap and gently presses it to Mikey’s arm. He hisses, pain shooting up his arm but he takes a deep breath in and reaches for the open can of Coke, taking a large swig before closing his eyes for a moment.

“You alright?” Ray asks as he leaves the ice-pack on Mikey’s arm for a few minutes, sitting back in his chair and staring at his boyfriend.

“Yeah, fine. How many more sessions?” Mikey asks, hopeful that Ray is going to say none but he knows this process is a long and very painful one.

“Maybe six, probably a few more?”

Mikey groans because really, this every month for nearly a year?

“Just think though, this time next year you’ll have an awesome tattoo in the place of this one, once it’s light enough to tattoo over again...”

Mikey half smiles and nods. “Yeah. Just remind me not to get some ‘forever’ shit next time.” He rolls his eyes at himself and looks down at his arm which is starting to bruise even around the ice-pack.

Ray laughs before taking it off and rubbing across the tattoo with ointment. Mikey winces a few times but it’s not too bad. Ray soon puts the tub of ointment down and takes a large piece of gauze, covering the sore skin with it before taping it down.

“Keep this on for today, and I’ll bring some ointment home with me so I can put it on for you.”

Mikey smiles at his boyfriend as he pulls off his latex gloves and throws them in the bin beside him.

“Thank you for being so awesome.” Mikey offers and Ray grins.

“Just promise me you’ll wait until we’re old and grey to get a tattoo for me?”
Mikey laughs.

“I’m never getting a tattoo for anybody ever again. Just myself.” He points at Ray but leans forward to kiss his lips again before pushing himself from the chair and stands up, swigging from his soda can again.

“I would kick your ass if you ever got a tattoo like that for me...” Ray grins but pulls Mikey closer to him by his unaffected arm, pulling him so that he’s stood in between his legs.

“My arm hurts...” Mikey pouts as he looks down at Ray with large, puppy dog eyes.
Ray rolls his eyes and strokes at Mikey’s outer arm.

“It will feel better soon, we’ll head home soon and get you some painkillers...”

Mikey grins. “You mean painkillers and a blowjob?” He wiggles his eyebrows but Ray rolls his eyes again and pushes him away.

“I’ll see!” He calls as Mikey grins and walks in to the front of the shop and starts to slowly pack away his things from the front desk.
