This pendant-brooch bears the mark of an unknown maker who was presumably an outworker employed by the Froment-Meurice firm. Shown by François-Désiré Froment-Meurice's widow at the Paris Universal Exhibition, 1855, from where it was purchased by the Museum.

They valued it highly as a detector of poison in food and drink. This pendant formerly belonged to the Campion family of Danny in Sussex.
