I had to look this up, never saw this version of "benign" before. "benignant". Cool!

I like hearing severus's thoughts while observing all of these manipulators and Gryffindors. What a tangled web, indeed! Poor Hermione. She has learned everything except critical thinking abilities.

Oh, it definitely isn't healthy. But I never wanted it to be. If nothing else, Snape is dealing with a lifetime's bitterness and Harry is dealing with all the manipulation and they both want an outlet. If might be that if nothing more.
