I find it very hard to write him, simply because I have a hard time getting inside his head. I find it hard to write the chemistry between Ron and Hermione for the same reason; I never really 'got' their canon relationship.
I haven't squee'd over this in a while, and I think I'm long overdue! This is lovely, as always. I love the interaction between Ron & Draco especially, and the way that Harry & Draco are evolving as a bonded couple. I can't wait to see what adventure lies ahead with the birds - some niggling thought in my mind keeps screaming that it's a trap of some kind.
YES!! That last image is so satisfying and mature and indicative of such progress and just plain GREAT. *Deep breath* Yeah, I loved this chapter. Can you tell? =)
Anyway, I'm really loving how all the relationships are evolving here, and in the previous chapters. It's a slow process, but that's what makes it so beautiful and realistic and so worth it in the end. Andromeda and Draco airing out their skeletons, with the former acknowledging that Draco was one of the camp's "strongest defenses," and Draco realising actual affection for Teddy. ^^ Then Harry and Draco's bond seems a lot more affectionate and strong now that they both accept it and are happy with it.
Ron trying typical 'laddish' banter with Draco was also hilarious! Just...love love love. ♥
They mostly distrust the way he reacts to things they can't hear. If the bond didn't involve mental communication, they probably wouldn't distrust him as much.

I like him in canon and I always found it sad the way he was caricatured in fandom.

I'm glad you like him here, though.

If it's a trap, it's not one the mummidade set. They wouldn't want to lose their allies.

Yes, Draco is connecting with more people now, and that will help him in the end, with spiraling out and opening up his world more.
