I am really enjoying how this H/D fiction is unfolding. I like how open and sweet Harry is to Draco. I like Dracos maturity, esp. with handling the portrait. If I were Draco, I would tell Harry about the portrait, how he handled it, and then that night I would turn the portrait around to face the wall. I like how Draco is allowing Harry into his thoughts and life, thinking about him more and more as an equal. For Draco to invest that much time and effort and creativity to deduce what was wrong with Harrys knee, and make the effort to make a potion for Harry, well, lets say, I think Draco has fallen for Harry the way that Harry has fallen for Draco.....
He did tell Harry the portrait insulted him and attacked him, although that conversation wasn't mentioned in Chapter 28. And he told Harry that he turned the portrait to face the wall.
Draco has a different way of doing it than Harry does, but I think you may be right.
I really liked Draco's chat with the portrait of Phineas Nigellus - quite amusing. But then, curious at the same time - I wondered, like Draco, at Phineas' contrary statements about Harry and blood-purity. Was he just trying to ingratiate himself with Draco? Or was he trying to 'spy' or find out Draco's real intentions, or a test? Or is he just mad?! Arh! Still, I was very happy to see Draco passing the 'test
( ... )
Phineas was feeling out Draco with those comments, to see how pure-blood he still considered himself. But he's also bored and will cause trouble if he can.
It's the Headmaster of Hogwarts. Since he has a portrait in the Black house, I think he could easily have seen Narcissa there when she was a girl.
Hermione has decided to roll her eyes and let it go for now, although part of her also wonders if that's wise.
I like how Draco made the distinction that Hermine may see the secret smiles, but because she can tell Harry is trying to keep them private or because she doesn't want to accept them, she doesn't bring them up and question them. Great chapter. Looking forward to how all this pans out.

Hermione saw a lot more of them than Harry thought, but she's smart enough to let it go for now.

Draco will get to hear Hermione's opinion of those smiles sooner than he thinks.
