Hermione is finally getting her chance to shine here. I think she was unfairly cheated of that by the way the story was set up, a lot of the time.

How awful that Harry lost his magic!
I truly believe he would prefer to lose his life rather than that.

I know you warned that the story would not have a happy ending; it's my own fault that I didn't take heed! Now I'll be depressed.

I think in most cases that would be true, but a) the magic was rather overwhelming and Harry got sort of tired of it and b) he fell in love with Draco, which gives him something to live for.

I did always intend this end, if it helps.
