Oh my, this was just amazing. I've been waiting for Narcissa's POV of the this chapter, and you certainly didn't disappoint! (You never do.) Her words, her promise to Lily, actually brought tears to my eyes. Fabulous chapter!
Narcissa to the rescue, indeed. I love your Narcissa in this story, so strong and fierce. I love that she really understands Harry and knows how to speak to him and that she healed him, but felt guilty for not noticing sooner. I am, almost, loving this companion piece better than the original.
Narcissa remains my favorite. I love her interactions with Harry, especially from her own pov. Thank you for the update and I hope you have a good holiday!
I love Narcissa in this context because she is, as she was in Bloody but Unbowed, in some ways the character who has the most disinterested reasons for wanting to make Harry happy - she's a mum who has found someone who needs Mumness in his life, at a point when her son is grown and while not estranged from her in any way, doesn't want her quite as consciously as Harry does. So she is, in some ways, the character whose giving is the most sincere. And here it is so touching, that she is trying so hard, not to manipulate him for some particular reason - though motives can be double, as this fic always reminds me - but she, like Harry, sees a need she can fulfill, and that makes her want to fulfill it. To be a mum, to ease someone's pain. She might see the advantages of having done so, but the advantages are not the main reason why she did it.
