WHO: Ludwig and Elizaveta WHEN: March 9, Friday, early afternoon WHERE: A small sandwich shop downtown WHAT: Two friends have a seemingly harmless catching-up over lunch
Just as she was about to step off the bus, the straps of her bag slid off of Elizaveta's shoulders which made her drop her cell phone so of course she had to pick it up which meant backing right into the man behind her and narrowly missing getting clocked in the face by the bus doors closing
( ... )
When Ludwig caught sight of Elizaveta, the anxiousness that had been making itself home in his stomach vanished. he smiled as she approached. "No, I haven't been waiting long," he replied, checking his watch and noticing that he had in fact been waiting for over ten minutes. It was his own fault, though... it was he who showed up ten minutes early.
Ludwig quietly oberved Elizaveta's expression. Though she was indeed smiling, he noticed that there was something else about her. She seemed... slightly uncomfortable. Perhaps she was cold...?
Whatever was bothering her, Ludwig knew that he would eventually find out. He made his way over to the entrance and opened the door for his friend, "Let's talk inside," he said, "It's warmer there."
Unable to wipe off the smile on her face, Elizaveta felt some of her tension ease as she stepped into the shop. It wasn't just the warmth but it was also... Ludwig was calming. Something about his presence made her feel safe, secure, and maybe a little nostalgic of when they used to spend more time together. After finding a spot to sit down, she raised her hands to cup her chin and looked at the menu.
"Oh. They have the calories written beside the names." She observed, frowning slightly. "Well, now I'm going to have to eat..." she scanned all of the sandwiches, her eyebrows raised, "Water. And nothing else."
Elizaveta smiled again, pushing the menu aside. "So how have you been? Heard any news from anyone recently?"
"I've been doing fine... but I haven't heard anything out of the ordinary from anyone lately..." Ludwig responded as his eyes trailed over his own menu. He paused and looked up, "Did you say you were just eating water?"
