After a moment, taking a deep breath to gain complete composure, Kiku opened the door to the cafe. The action was smooth and polished, well practiced, and he was glad that he could call upon this sort of poise thanks to his job. With a little smile at his boyfriend, drinking in the look of him all dressed up, he stepped back, holding open the door with a swish of aprons. He'd keep up the professional act for a bit longer, wanting to entertain Willem for the special occasion.
Surprise rooted him in the doorway for a moment, mind caught up in white stockings on shapely legs and apron and the way the ruffles moved whenever Kiku did. Many a late night fantasy had started this way, and he had to shake himself a bit to get his mind back to the present.
"I did," he managed, coming in and locking the door back behind him. "It was a nice surprise."
Kiku countered the formality of the statement with undisguised playfulness in the overexaggeration of the sweep of his arm and the way he made sure his skirts swished just so. His face was kept carefully serious, a smile waiting just behind his lips.
The dining room had been cleared of all but one table, and it had been set with great care. Not a piece of silver was out of place. A single red chrysanthemum sat in the center of Willem's plate. Kiku felt a little silly, having chosen the flower of his namesake. And even moreso for having looked up the meanings of colors in the flower language. He held Willem's chair for him, coloring up in spite of the professional game he was playing with him.
His brain went a bit fuzzy again as he watched Kiku move, and with force he dragged it back to the table set out for him. His smile got a bit wider as he surveyed the care that had gone into it.
"A very nice surprise," he said, smiling at Kiku as he took a seat, enjoying the blush dusting his boyfriend's face.
