Who: Willem, Kiku, and a surprise guest star
When: Friday, October 13th, early afternoon
Where: Kiku’s apartment
What: Willem decides to spend the afternoon with Kiku since he has a day off work.

( And ends up with so much more than he bargained for. )

Kiku and the girl looked up simultaneously from the pile of blocks in the floor at the sound of Willem walking in. Ririka stared at him with big eyes, watching his every move as he came into the living room, knocking back the hood of her bunny sweater with the movement. She sucked her lip into her mouth, very seriously regarding him. And then she came to a decision.

"大きい"

Willem regarded the small child with as serious an expression as she had regarded him.

"Konijntje."

The regarded each other for another few seconds, and then the young girl merely nodded and went back to her blocks with the air of someone who is satisfied with the agreement reached.

Willem looked to his boyfriend for an explanation.

"She said you were 'big'," he translated, smiling sheepishly. "Her father is an old business associate of mine, from before the cafe. He needed a sitter for a few days, and since I know how hard it must be, since she only speaks Japanese, I agreed to help..."

He smoothed her hair down from where the hood had flipped down. She ignored him in favor of the blocks.

"Her name is Ririka. りりかちゃｎ、ご挨拶しよ？"

She looked up at the sound of her name, and then stuck a block in her mouth, suddenly going shy. "この人はWillemです。とてもやさしい人だよ。うさちゃｎが大好きな人です。りりちゃんもうさちゃｎ好きよね？”

She nodded at that, and then around the block she introduced herself. "りりかです。もうすぐ３歳になる." And then she buried her face in the floor.

Willem's mouth twitched into a smile at the utter adorableness of the sight. Setting the bag on the coffee table, he went to sit down close to her. He figured if maybe he was closer to her to her line of vision, she would be less afraid of him.

"Hello Ririka," he said, lowering his voice and speaking softly. Pochi, who always desired to be right in the middle of things, came to sit beside him to see how this was going to play out.
