Kiku rushed to the aid of the screaming maid. It never bode well for staff or customers alike when his name was called across the cafe like this.

Arriving quickly through the curtain that separated kitchen from dining, he was met with the sight of one of his staff looking a bit ruffled, an empty glass in her hand. The contents seemed to have been milk. Which was now dripping down the front of a man, likely a customer, who seemed extremely bewildered and in need of a shave. He did not quite know what to make of the scene just yet. At least it hadn't meant the destruction of another coffee pot.

"May I ask what the trouble is?"

Through some ridiculous twist of fate that had nothing at all to do with his proclivity for overturning pots of very hot coffee onto the laps of particularly irritating customers (sometimes resulting in the destruction of the aforementioned coffee pot), Ion found himself (for the moment) restricted from serving and summarily banished to the kitchen where he stood with his sleeves rolled up, elbow-deep in dishwater and doing a chore that was not in his job description ( ... )

"Oh..."

The girl inhaled sharply, casting fervent, startled glances between employer and patron until the shame of her explosive overreaction appeared to finally hit her with all the force of a speeding semi.

She staggered back a step then turned her face to the floor as she reluctantly followed with a soft, pleading, "I-I thought he- I w-was- I've been watching horror movies with Yumi a lot lately and then there was this report on the news and he, he l-looked like... a...he... I'm so sorry, Sir. I'll um- I'll get a towel right away ( ... )

"I'm quite sorry for..." Kiku searched for a word to appropriately describe the situation. "For the...ah, inconvenience. And the misunderstanding." Quickly producing a cloth from the front of his apron, he offered it to the customer, who was taking this surprisingly well. Kiku had to wonder if it was because he often experienced this sort of treatment, or if it was just an odd quirk of the man's.

"Of course your order is on us as an apology." He began leading the way to an unoccupied seat, holding out the chair and providing him with a menu. "Please, take your time. If you need anything at all, please ring the bell on your table. I apologize again for your...poor reception."

With a little bow, he retreated back to the kitchen, ready to survey how much of a mess he would need to deal with where the upset maid was concerned. Spotting Ion, he gave him a tired, hopeful smile. "Would you mind taking care of the man at table six, Ion-kun?"
