Looking up from where he was looking through an old Hans Christian Anderson collection at the knock, Sindre left his room to answer the door. By now, he had learned that his brother would not answer unless he absolutely had to.

He had to resist the urge to simply shut the door again as he saw Johanna. Instead, he stepped aside and welcomed her in.

After a moment of silence, Sindre tipped his head towards his brother's room. "I'll get Valdi for you."

"Sindre, wait." She held out her hand pleadingly towards him, but it was more of an order than a request. Carefully placing her laptop bag by the door, Johanna stopped to stand besides her (sometimes forgotten) son.

"I would like to talk to you first, if that's okay."

Sindre frowned a little at her. She had spent much of her visit being subtly critical, and she had spared him little attention. So why did she wish to speak to him now?

Inclining his head just enough to count as a nod, Sindre responded, "What do you want to talk about?"

Johanna was never one to tip-toe around the truth, and today would be no exception.
She stepped further into the apartment out of courtesy, and to dispel the tension building in their faux-entrance hall stand off.
"I know we have not started off on the best of terms, and I apologize for that, truly I do." Her tone lacked all forms of sincerity, her apology flat and without empathy.
"I really appreciate the time you've spent looking after Valdi. He's told me a lot about you and Liberty and I can tell he's really enjoyed his time here. I'm almost jealous of you" -A forced laugh- "We've missed him so much over the past year.... And, well..."

She faltered to idly adjust one of the sofa cushions, as if keeping herself occupied would change the result of what was to come. Or overlook the fact that there was no mention of missing Sindre, ever.

"I think it's time we went home."
