The last few days with her parents had been, were Emi to be completely honest, hell. Pure and utter hell. Normally, a visit from her parents would have left her feeling quite content, happy to finally see them after almost a year.
But now with her father constantly badgering her to not only move out but to also break up with Jared, Emi was near her breaking point. Inwardly, of course. Even with the building stress, she had been able to keep the shaky, uncomfortable grins to a bare minimum now that their initial arrival was done and over with

"Parezca que está llevando el mundo," Emmanuel told her, sitting down and starting to spread cream cheese on his bagel. "Need someone to listen, mija?" he asked, smiling at her.
He was one of those people who enjoyed listening to the problems of others, he had to admit. Helping them was worth it. Not that he could help everyone- and sometimes, he forgot that.
Fingers wrapped around her coffee mug, Emi paused, staring at the man for a brief moment of silence before offering a small, weak smile. "No se preocupe," she said, giving a quick shake of her head as she took a slight sip of the warm drink before setting it back down.
"I'm just having a stressful week. Es nada, really. I don't want to bother a poor stranger like yourself con cosas que no importan."
"Do I look like I'm doing anything important?" Emmanuel asked, raising an eyebrow. "The important part is feeling better, si? I'm having a week, too. Pero, es mi culpa." He shrugged a little, starting to mix in sugar to his coffee.
"It's up to you. You won't bother me either way, unless your problems are contagious. Pero en ese caso, no deberia estar en la cama?"

He was one of those people who enjoyed listening to the problems of others, he had to admit. Helping them was worth it. Not that he could help everyone- and sometimes, he forgot that.
