Marina could not help but wonder if, perhaps, she and her husband should have just called their daughter the moment they arrived. But it was too late now, she supposed, shifting on her foot as the elevator doors dinged open. Fishing out her cellphone from her purse, she flipped it open and scrolled down to her daughter's name before sending her a quick text.

Ya llegamos! ♥Of course Marina knew that that message could have meant anything. Anything from arriving at the airport, their hotel, or (in this case), outside their daughter's apartment. But both parents figured it'd be okay. Emiliana had mumbled something about living with two other people. And Juan hadn't been able to tell them anything due to his angry spluttering being quite incomprehensible whenever their parents asked him about his sister ( ... )

Vaguely, Marina supposed that she should have been more concerned with the admittance of her daughter's boyfriend's age than linger on the question of how they met. Though it wasn't as though the older woman could help it, really. She had expected some sort of romantic tale, or a flustered allusion to such a story at least. Meeting at the movies seemed...odd. How could someone date a person they met at the movie theater when a good portion of the time was spent in silence and with one's eyes trained at the screen in front of them?

Of course, before she could voice her bewilderment, her husband beat her with a rather strangled response of, "You're thirty?" She supposed she had to give her husband a mental pat on the back for not exploding upon saying that. "Y un profesor," Marina supplied helpfully. It wasn't as though she was trying to be mean to both men, but she couldn't help but find the entire situation hilarious ( ... )
