Valdi jumped at the sound of something literally throwing itself against the apartment door, opting against the search for Sindre's baseball bat with a last minute conviction that that would be overreacting.
Instead he pushed Puffin off his lap (to the bird's evident indignation) and cautiously made his way to the entrance, leaving the safety chain on as he slipped the door open.
And there was Kai, on time if not early, looking awfully well dressed and out of breath. A moment to unlatch the chain and he stepped aside to let the other in (out of courtesy, although Valdi had no idea where they would be going).
"Are you alright? You didn't have to rush, you know."
He couldn't understand why Sindre was so skeptical of the boy; besides smelling and acting a little odd at times Kai really seemed to mean well.
Valdi shrugged it off; he was at liberty to make his own judgments.

Prodding absently at his lip piercing he traded glance between the floor and Valdi's face quickly, an in-mind mantra on repeat of Du kan gøre dette, du kan gøre dette doing it's best to restore his confidence. And gradually, slowly but surely he regained his breath and poise, a genuinely more cheerful and steady smile finding home on his face. "You ready to go, or do you need a few more minutes?"

"I'm good," While Valdi had come to accept that people would stare no matter what he wore, his mother had definitely schooled him well when it came to decent dress. Everything just seemed to fall into place.
And somehow he didn't feel so mismatched standing next to Kai; not that he would tell the other that, chances are the Dane wouldn't see it in an equally positive light.
"Is there anywhere you wanted to eat? I didn't really have a place planned out."

He did his best not to stare for the less obvious reasons, with all his might trying to hold back the goofy, excitable grin that was threatening to rise up on his face out of sheer exuberance. "Ah.. I'm honestly still not that familiar with town," He replied with a small frown, tipping his head back to look at the ceiling in consideration. "There's.. coffee, which probably has snacks.. the ice cream store is good if you want something sweet. Any sort of seafood restaurant around here?"
