The Murder Game: Day 006

Nov 06, 2010 02:32

Well tonight has been fun, no?

ANYWAY. So time for formal apologies from me, your lolanon, to the comm. Yes, there was a huge cockup today. Yes, it got blown out of proportion. Yes, it nearly rent the comm into two factions. Yes, it probably wins for shitstorm of the century. Yes, family will be broken, loyalties tested, brothers forced to fight one another all in the name of The Murder Game!

YES I'M BEING DRAMATIC AND YOU LOVE IT, DON'T LIE. also no more six hour dramas kthx

Consider this an apology from me to you, we didn't forsee this happening, honestly.

And an explanation of why the mods were a little ticked provided by Sam herself:

Okay, sooo. We think the incident last night was a part of a larger issue that we have noticed throughout the game: Basically, one of mun vs. character.  As this is a roleplay game, we feel we need to assert that we are looking for character alliances. Not mun ones.

This is because mun ones obviously take place off-screen and have the potential to cause confusing incidents. So it's all well and good that you have a mun alliance, but if it doesn't translate into alliances with your characters, we might have a problem.

Essentially, we don't want out-of-game alliances and planning to overtake in-game action. Especially when it’s to the point that there's confusion due to these out-of-game interactions.

Which is what recently happened.

It seems like everyone is so focused on staying alive and finding out who the wolves are that they're forgetting to roleplay and to focus on their characters. Pretty much everyone is focusing more on the mun aspect than the character aspect. Thus, we have come to believe that many of you have forgotten the roleplay part of this Murder Game and are completely absorbed in the game. And while this is a game, it takes place on an roleplaying site.

As such, we kind of need to see you interacting. If everything interesting happens outside of the game, well... What’s the point, then? Also, while figuring out the mystery is fun, you need to remember you’re not figuring this out, your characters are. So if you do have any mun activity, it needs to be translated to your characters. You don't have to divulge the secrets shared, but hint at a rendezvous on the way to that sketchy chamberpot in the corner or what have you.

Just please try to remember this is your character in this situation, not you. And that they’re the ones meant to be making alliances, and trying not to get killed! Use your characters! We don’t want them to simply become voiceboxes for the muns! We want them to be the source of most of your interactions!

On another note, another concern has been brought to our attention. Now, we don’t think your characters are idiots and we realize being put in a pressuring situation might bring about surprising qualities, but some characters are, well, acting as if they have suddenly acquired all the knowledge found in Wikipedia.

You really ought to be realistic about things your character might know or might not know. And how they might go about finding the information they need instead of sounding like they’re a walking encyclopedia. Just think things through and be creative! But we would really like if your characters figured things out in a way that meshes well with their personality and not just give them a sudden and unexplainable boost of intelligence for your own means.

Now concerning the first part of this spiel, we realized that this wasn’t explicitly stated in the rules, but we honestly didn’t think it about it - in hindsight it was probably because we thought it wouldn’t become an issue. However, since there was a little drama about this that blew up to Godzilla proportions, the mods and I have decided that there will be some kind of... "punishment" due to this error. No, it's not terrible and yes you will all somehow live through it because, as I must remind some of you, this is just a game.

As I'm sure you all know, or heard through the grape vine, there was discussion of a punishment and it has changed since we last came to a conclusion. A new compromise was met and is as follows: this next clue round will contain two doors that have results inside of them. One of the rooms is a regular clue door while the second one, if opened by anyone, rabbits and wolves alike, will give the wolves the ability to kill two pairs next round after the next poll.

This decision is final. There will be no arguing this.

And now, for a return to our regular game.

[after the booth closes, you all return to your rooms and the door shut. You know that they will be locked until midnight and all you can do to pass the time is wait. And wait. This time, you can't even bare to eat the food because all you remember is Loto and Otto's twitching bodies, the foam  and the red, bloodied eyes staring at the screen. You stick to water. Water that you got yourself and was a hundred-percent sure did not smell funny.

You are your partner are growing even more tense with each passing moment and either the person you're with is keeping you sane or is pushing you to the edge. You have to constantly remind yourself that this is the only person you can trust. There is no one else that you can trust your life

Time blends and even though fortunate enough to have watches wonder if they're even working anymore. Then, without warning, the doors unlock and open. Some of you jump, pressing against a wall, some of you get up, ready for a fight. But if your door has opened, then you are alive and safe.

For another day at least.

The black box is gone from the center of the room and as more of you walk out, you notice two brand new red and dripping Xs have joined door Number 5 Number 2 and Number. Doors Number 6 and Number 9 do not open. You realise that the people inside these rooms are- No... No you knew those people.

The TV flicks on. White screen, black text. Every time it's the same.]

The first poll has closed and the wolves have made their choice.
The executioner has made his kill.

Results:
The wolves' prey: Zhi and Toris.
The accused: Jared and Lucy.

You have successfully killed off an innocent pair.
The wolves still live.
And they will kill again.

[You killed an innocent. Dear young Lucy and the proud Jared. Poor things really. Sick to your stomach, but somehow the feeling is something you're used to and that frightens you. These deaths. They're becoming commonplace. Something that just happens. You watch as the video turns to the room containing the young girl and the older man. They are leaning against each other, Lucy apparently asleep, Jared's eyes fixed on the opposite wall. His cane taps against the floor in a constant and steady beat and you feel it hit your very soul

And the door opens and you can only watch as Jared stands up in front of Lucy and the young woman jerks awake. You think for a moment that she's going to hide behind him but she doesn't dare, standing side-to-side with him as the Prussian walked into the room, the Luger in his left hand and the blade in his right.

You see mouths moving, exchanges of words, of insults? Jared wants to kill the man who took Emi from him. Gilbert isn't about to let that happen. As wild as the fight is, Jared's cane and towering stature mixed with Lucy's fierce will the just get out of this life, the two are no match against Gilbert's aim and the deadly knife in his hand.

There is no looking away this time. Jared crumples to the ground and Lucy screams, launching at the Prussian before her life is ended just as quickly. Gilbert actually looks a little winded from the fight but runs a hand through his hair, leaving streaks of red in the white hair before leaving without another word.

The scene cuts almost at once to a similar room from the same angle, but the blood is gone and the people have changed. Zhi and Toris sit quietly in their room, Zhi ocasionally poking at his black eye before Toris waves at him and you see him telling Zhi to stop. Besides that, a stony silence is clear in that room.

And then the lights go out. You stare at the black screen as the camera's nightvision flickers on and the scene is suddenly green. Zhi and Toris as both off of their beds, stumbling towards each other, touching hands and despite all their fighting, they hold their hands. Light spills in as the door opens and two shadows cut through the light before the door closes.

You don't get a good look at their faces but you watch as the two new figures hold large items in their hands. You don't know what they are, swords? Pipes? Large garden gnomes? Planks of wood? Your mind spins through possibilities and then freezes. You know what these two figures are going to do with these weapons.

While you watch, figuring out the end of this before Toris and Zhi do. Bludgeoned to death. No mercy. Just hit after hit. In the darkness, Zhi and Toris are completely vulnerable to the attacks and before long they hit the ground and even there they are not spared, the two figures beating them until their faces are distorted, bleeding and bones jut from skin.

The two figures finish and step back from the lifeless bodies before leaving the long weapons next to the bodies and leaving. As the lights flicker back on, you are treated to the entire gruesome scene before the screen turns white.]

The clue floor will be closed until 3 o'clock (PST) tomorrow at which time it will be open
