Armani suit? Check. Nice blue silk tie? Check. Engagement ring? Check, of course, he rarely took it off anyways, except when showering and working with paints.
Feliciano fussed with his appearance in the mirror for a few more seconds to make sure his tie was tied properly and was setting straight on his black silk shirt. Finally satisfied, he slipped his shoes on and shoved his phone, keys and wallet into his pockets. A quick stop by Romano's room to tell him he was going out and then he was down the stairs, peering through the curtains in the front hall to see--
Ah, there! He ran outside, skidding and backtracking to lock the door behind him, a wide grin on his face as he raced back to the car. He slipped inside the car easily enough, since it was unlocked as he barreled up, and threw his arms around his fiance. "Buona sera~" A quick kiss was planted on the German's lips before Feliciano started to buckle himself it. "Where are we going tonight~?"
After greeting his fiance, Ludwig slid the car into reverse and pointed it back down the drive. "It wouldn't be much of a surprise if I told you, would it?" he answered.
Once they left the driveway, Ludwig pointed the car south towards Vichy Plaza. "But it's a place you'll love, I promise," he teased. Ludwig knew saying that would only make Feliciano want to know even more, but he resolved not to tell him until they'd arrived. Or about the plans he had for after dinner, either.
He hummed slightly and tapped the steering wheel as he drove, content to listen to Feliciano's excited chatter.
"Have I been there before? Is that why I'll love it?" Feliciano continued to ask questions until he was sure Ludwig was going to be tight lipped about their destination. How was he supposed to know what he wanted to order if he didn't know where they were going after all?
So he played with the radio a bit, blabbering on about the photo shoot he was doing ("All on my own Ludwig! Well... mostly. Gil-Gil's helping me sew~!") and about how much he'd missed the German while he was away on business ("A whole bunch! You should call more when you're gone, I'll even stay up if it means I get to hear from you."). Sometimes he attempted slipping in another question about their destination in, but the other was too sharp and they were ignored just the same as his first few.
Then finally, "So, are we almost there then? I'm so excited! Are you sure you won't tell me?"
Feliciano fiddled with the radio, finally settling on a station that was playing Iron & Wine's "Boy With a Coin," while he blabbered on about the photo shoot Gilbert was helping him with.
Ludwig slowed down as they neared Bon Séjour, the fancy French restaurant in Vichy Plaza, just long enough for Feliciano to get a good look at the restaurant. Then he stepped on the gas and drove right on by it. After all, Bon Séjour wasn't his intended destination. He'd driven the long way past the upscale French restaurant for two reasons. First, to tease Feliciano and throw him off of where Ludwig was actually taking him; and second, because it meant that he could sit and listen to Feliciano longer. The little Italian seemed almost desperate to fill the German in on everything that had happened while he was away.
"Yes, we're almost there," Ludwig replied to Feliciano's plea's. But he still didn't mention where they were going. Finally, they pulled up outside the Vargas Pizzeria, and Ludwig parked the car.
