The weeds had grown back surprisingly fast since the last time Olivier had seen them. Perhaps the tall blond had not done much since he and the strange Australian man had last been there, Olivier mused absently as he all but yanked out the gnarled remains of some unknown plant.
It had been a bit odd, though. Being asked to help out with the Swedish man's garden, that is.
Well, no. Olivier did not mind that the man had more or less asked if he could help spruce up his garden (with the promise of pay). Instead, he found it a bit odd that he found the man staring (or had he been glaring?) at him from the window.
However, at the sound of the man both approaching and addressing him, Olivier glanced up before straightening as he spotted the plate in the blond's hands. Tugging off his gloves, he offered the other man a small, albeit grateful, smile. "Thank you," Olivier responded as he gave the garden a quick look over. "I'm close to halfway done. With the weeds and dead plants, that is. What else did you want me to help you with

"Ah...good," Berwald mumbled, pulling a hand through his hair thoughtfully once his hands were freed from holding the dishes.
He looked over the partially unweeded garden. Really, maybe he shouldn't have left so much work for the other man, even if he was paying him. At least he had hacked away some of the worst shrubbery and the largest rose bushes, since those had looked downright dangerous, with long thorns and all. Berwald scratched at his arm, which was itchy with all the scratches he'd got in the process.
"Dunno...guess 't aint' th' best time...is one supposed th' plant stuff 'n autumn or spring? And would 't be good for growing vegetables? Potatoes?" he pondered aloud. He did intend to try the potatoes in any case, since those were supposed to grow pretty much anywhere, and it wouldn't be a big loss if they didn't, anyway.
vnv So shameful. paix_et_makossaSeptember 1 2010, 21:28:56 UTC
"Well," Olivier started slowly. "It really depends on what kind of plants you want to grow." He glanced over at the untouched side of the garden, fighting back a grimace.
"But if you would like to grow potatoes, I believe the best time to plant them would be in the spring." Olivier noticed the blond scratching at his arm and raised an eyebrow. "Have you applied anything to those scratches?"

Berwald sighed heavily, and frowned at the garden himself. It was so difficult, trying to imagine how it would look like later if something was planted or...he shook his head.
"Mm, ok..." Berwald mumbled distractedly, and then blinked at the other man.
"Huh? t'was just the roses..." He knew that scratches caused by animals or rusty metal could be dangerous, yes, but plants?
