Disappearing into the kitchen for a second, Tino soon returned to the doorway and walked to the British boy, shooing the little fluffball of a dog from their feet before smiling for a moment at the boy and then offering out his hand. "...Congratulations."

Even still, he didn't go anywhere further than the small foyer where all their shoes lined neatly on the rack. Papa... Uh, Berwald was always making sure that the house was kept nicely.
When Tino reappeared, Peter was stunned to see the hand. It took a long while for him to understand why Tino was congratulating him. He widened a smile and threw the hand away. Instead, he pushed himself into Tino's arm and gave the Finn a hug.
"Thanks! How have you been~ H-how's the new job?" Until Tino mentioned it first, Peter wasn't going to say Berwald's name.

Tilting his head to the question, he rubbed his neck and laughed a bit. "Ah, the job? Well, it's been good so far." Smiling, he motioned for him to follow him into the kitchen where he started to cut the cucumber into slices. "Berwald's still upstairs, but I'm sure he's awake. Want me to go get him?" Glancing over his shoulder, he stopped the cutting for a moment. "He probably didn't think you would be here this early either, but it's fine, I made a bit too much porridge anyway."
For Tino, the whole situation seemed so insignificant, almost silly. That Peter wouldn't dare to come home because he said something bad to Berwald. What kind of friends had he had in his life if he thought that everything was over after something like that? Things like this were solved with a simple "sorry".

The smile, however, died when Tino mentioned Berwald. He flinched inwardly and glanced away, focusing his attention on Flower-Egg in the living room instead.
"Uh, n-no, it's all right. I don't want to wake him up, you know! I-It's fine. Let's eat first! I haven't eaten your cooking in sooooo long, you know~ And Tino is such a great cook, so much better than what Conner can make anyways, but Peter thinks Papa is... Uh...."
He shut up immediately and pouted his lips. No point in going into battle on an empty stomach, right?
"Tino, how long do you plan to live here?"

This would not do.
Walking to Berwald, grabbing the coffee pot before he could, he looked at him directly and gave him a look that weirdly made it seem like he had just said "Don't be childish", before he opened his mouth. "Berwald," he started, looking up at him and swallowing, trying to hide his own perplexity as he cleared his throat and grabbed his friend's arm, turning him around so that he was facing the apparently frozen on the spot British boy, "...Peter here has something to say to you."
The grip on the Swede's arm tight, Tino forced himself to believe that the other hadn't heard and inhales deeply, smiling at Peter reassuringly. Go on..!

"A-ah, I should... ah, thanks for breakfast, the food... was, thanks, Tino," he mumbled incoherently, not even caring if words were said in the correct order. "See you then!"
He fumbled away, knocking back the chair, making a loud ruckus that almost drowned out what Tino said. He froze at the words, silently resenting the Finnish man for bringing it up. He swallowed nothing in his mouth and barely found the guts to look at Berwald.
"Uh, well, I... ah.... I suppose... I..."
Nope. It was not coming out.

"'s fine." he said quickly, turning his gaze away from Peter's awkward expression. "ya don't need t'" apologise, but was that even what he was trying to say? What right did Berwald have to assume that? "The truth's the truth." he ended, voice gruff and mouth pressing into a thin line right after the words were out of it.

"Peter," he said, tone changing completely into a friendly and encouraging one, speaking so quietly that Berwald behind him couldn't hear what he said, "It's alright, he's not like that because of you. Just tell him what you want to say, because I just know that whatever you said, you didn't mean it. Isn't that right..?" He smiled a bit and moved to stand on his side, still holding onto his left shoulder, squeezing a bit leaning into his ear, whispering " ( ... )
