He too drank from his cup, mimicking Roma's habitual movements. If both were drinking in the same instant then neither had a chance to catch the other off guard. An overly defensive move, but necessary for the moment. Vash could trust Roma and that mischievous smile of his about as far as Kiku-sama could throw him. Which was not at all.

He could not allow Kiku to be deceived by this lecherous Italian any longer, especially with his pride on the line. Several standing units were placed outside of the mansion, merely waiting for any sign of a struggle. Whether or not they would be needed was a question no one in that room could answer. Only time could tell...

Vash's mouth tightened, scowling at Roma's insincere apology. His eyebrows lowered and came together forming an icy glare aimed at Roma, fingers still drumming on the handle of his gun.

He let out a tense breath, trying to calm himself before answering. "I have known Kiku-sama for almost 8 years now."

He had his enemy on his toes which meant he might slip up easier. Roma also noticed both hands weren't in plain sight, one hidden under the table and out of view.

By how tense his arms muscles, Roma suspected he was holding something...

"Oh, how lovely! Mr. Honda did mention you two have been acquainted for a long time. How did you two meet?" His smile remained unwavering, like that of a porcelain figurine. The expression never changed but the eyes always held a bit of mischief in them.

He was always told that the true nature of a person was found in their eyes. Roma was no exception to this saying. Vash's unwavering glare continued to drill into the Italian, a foil to the man's own sly and mischievous eyes.

"It was a stormy evening if I remember correctly..." his expression tightened with the words, and Roma's unnecessary questions. The man must have been up to something, maybe trying to buy time for his own men to arrive.

Vash just wanted to grab Kiku by the wrist and drag him out of there before it was too late, and lord almighty how he wanted to punch those two chittering lovebirds talking about their wedding right across the table! How is it possible that they could not read such a tense atmosphere?! But for now Vash had no choice but to be pulled along like a puppet and answer Roma's questions.

"His grandfather introduced us, and from there we became fast friends."
