Feliciano had been on his way out the door, wailing that he was late and Ludwig was going to yell at him when Roma had stopped him, dragged him back inside by the back of his colorful tank-top and told him to get ready for the beach. Now for once Feli was ahead in his work - the designs for summer were way too cute to leave for last minute - so he didn't question anything ( ... )

Conveniently for Roma, his elder grandson hadn't made any plans to leave the house that day. Having woken up with the sole intention of eating, watching tv, sleeping again and possibly scouring out the conditions of their new 'neighbors' Romano was not at all pleased with the concept of a day out- and especially not to bond with a man he'd much rather have nothing to do with.

Well, might as well make this worthwhile.
Reaching for his shoulder bag Romano threw in his music, PSP gameboy, book and phone, covering the lot with a towel which was more there for protective purposes rather than preparation. He had no intention of going anywhere /near/ the water Unless there were a few cute girls there as well and certainly not participating in any ridiculous 'bonding activities' his grandfather came up with.

No doubt Feliciano had locked himself up in the bathroom by now. No matter, a proper Italian didn't need chemicals to look good ( ... )

Roma came back from a phone call with some of his men (making sure they were enjoying their days off) and was glad to see both boys were out of their rooms and seemed ready to go. Grinning, he wrapped his arms around his grandchildren and lightly squeezed.

"*Oggi sta seguendo da meraviglioso! Nessuno di quell'impresa con la mafia, solo io e il mio preferito nipoti~" Roma said lovingly before letting them go and pushing them outside to the car.

"Now come on, the ocean waits for no one!" He grabbed their bags and tossed them in the trunk and Feliciano quickly sat himself in the front seat leaving Romano to sit in the back (which Roma knew he'd prefer). After he made sure they were buckled in, Roma pulled out of the driveway and made his way to the beach.

"You can choose any station you want Feli~!"

(*Today is going to be wonderful! None of that business with the mafia, just me and my favorite grandsons.)

"It won't stay, ve!" Feliciano was still pouting and once more tried to flatten his unruly hair to no avail. It all sprung right up as soon as his hands were gone and he sighed, shoulder slumping. Maybe the ocean water would help cure his bad hair or at least flatten it.

Once their grandfather joined them his pout deepened. He had an inkling that the business with the mafia - that Nonno had first told him he had nothing to do with anymore - would never really be quit. Not even on a day that was supposed to be spent together.

Still he raced to the car calling shotgun, jumping into the front seat. "To the beach, ve~ With warm sand and singing waves and pretty girls in bikinis~" he sang while buckling up. The youngest was messing with the dials before Roma had even given him permission, pausing on one station then changing it to another only to settle on some station playing old pop songs that he started to sing along with, head stuck out the window like an excited puppy.

There were many times in the past when Nonno had insisted that they'd leave the mafia behind them, and Romano was still (albeit entirely hopelessly) waiting for that day to come. He doubted today would be much different, or that his unnecessarily present paranoia would change should it be nothing more than a "family outing."

As soon as Feliciano jumped into the front to 'find' a radio station, Romano knew he'd made the wrong decision leaving his bed that morning. Any station the younger decided to land on for more than 2 seconds sounded more like someone strangling a cat than proper music.

Groaning his nested his head in the palm of his head and stared, more or less defeated, out the window.
Static...static...rock...static...pop music...pop music. That was it?
Interest perked once again when the static didn't return Romano averted his attention to the passenger seat,
"Out of all the half-assed stations this city comes up with, and you choose this one?"

He wasn't going to lie. This music was bullshit.
