Just a small heads up, the book is like 20 million times better. They left a few important things out in the movie, such as Katrina, read the book, you'll understand. Esspecially if you read Eldest, she's important in Eldest. And they left a few other key people as well. Kept a few more people alive that should've been dead....But overall, it was great! So yeah...oh and the dude writing it, meakes me feel so unaccomplished. He's 22, and originally wrote Eragon when he was 15...so meh...oh well. Enjoy!
no offense, it was definately a cool story. but i can definately see how it was somewhat adolescent writing. if you've ever read "The Hero With 1000 Faces" by Joseph Campell (who was also the mentor to George Lucus), you could see how Eragon is pretty much the standard archetype for the adventure story... some of the qualities include: -a humble upbringing -a call to adventure -a mysterious fortune -the teacher (who would be brum) -the other (who is like the main character but has a mission of his own to make, it would be the dark archer kid)
but anyway, those are archetypes for a reason, it makes for a great story. but i had a feeling whoever wrote it was somewhat young. but i'm still excited about reading it.
Looks like I have another book to add to the list of things to read. Damn, that list is getting long! Yeah, the fortune, totally wrong in the movie, the book was better and makes a ton more sense. Okay, with Brom, he wasn't the only teacher. They left out one of the important people, the person they went to, an old friend of Brom's. Roran ones into him in the second book and alot of other stuff. As for the other, Murtagh (dark archer) you have no clue how much you nailed that, there's also a little more that you learn about Murtagh in Eldest.
