the "Suggestions" post

A few words about the meme:
a) You are all amazing!
b) Keep it up!
c) I think I'll start another post here when the comments reach 3000. Otherwise it might get too chaotic Y / N?

Someone suggested it would be great to have some place to collect all the articles we're constantly using for/referencing in our fics.

Would you find it helpful if you ( Read more... )

Do we need a freeze? For how long? Should we take into account the conference dates?

Any extra activity?

We probably shouldn't freeze during conference season- too much prompt potential. Should we just hold off on the freeze/new prompt post until after the Tory conference?

I agree with this. Especially since the meme has been kind of slow as it is in comparison to all the previous posts, so I am not even sure a freeze would really help.

I agree, given the many 'BUT WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR THE COALITION' stories that ran during the Lib Dem conference and the fact that the Conservative Party conference will be reacting to the Labour conference as well, maybe have the freeze at some point between the end of the Conservative conference and the resumption of Parliament the next week)?

I'd definitely like a freeze, but I wouldn't mind leaving it a bit longer - this prompt post had a slow start, so maybe a freeze after conference?

I would prefer if there wasn't a freze at all, I find that freezes tend to kill the meme dead while they are happening and since the meme is quite slow right now that best be avoided.

I agree.
When the meme is frozen I don't bother coming on. I have looked through old prompts and if I have not written them yet then I never will. The meme is already on its last legs... we are just a minority now and I believing freezing our communication will just end badly.

Agreed - sometimes just the prompts are enough to do me. Someone posting a link to an article or alerting me to a news story I wasn't aware of through a prompt is sometimes more rewarding than a written fic.

No more freezes!

I agree.

I've never been a supporter of freezes but now seems like the worst time to impose one. From what I have seen/ heard, some people don't bother coming on to the meme during a freeze and so it can take a while for things to pick up again later. During a time when the meme is moving along more slow than previously, we should be encouraging people to post not discouraging them.

I haven't been active on the meme recently, for a multitude of reasons, but a recent prompt has me writing fic again. If a freeze were to be in place and I didn't see that prompt I wouldn't be writing (whether that is a good or bad thing remains to be seen).

I don't think we need a freeze right now, or for this post at all. It's very quiet right now, with more prompts than fills, so a freeze might stifle the already flagging creativity.

I don't agree with the anon above that the meme is on its last legs though. Just that we are at a point of the year in which a combination of things is making it quiet.
