A fic set in the future at Florence Cameron's wedding. David and Nick haven't talked for years and are being reaquainted for the first time in that period.

Not slash, not entirely gen and a bit fluffy.

(Yes, this is how I have so far spent my Christmas).

Florence wrapped her arms around Nick as he walked into the large, elegant hall, "Thank you for coming Nick. It wouldn't be the same without you." He returned the hug with an awkard pat on the back, ensuring that his watch didn't catch onto the delicate wedding dress. It was quite the surprise when he received the wedding invitation. He and her father hadn't talked in the five years since Nick left politics to move to Spain with Miriam. They had argued, he and David, over everything in their remaining years as friends. Friends despite how much Nick had protested in the media. The coalition may have formed their friendship but it was still the inevitble device to ensure that it would never last. The time spent together may have brought out surprising things about each other but it also brought out the bad points. Bad points that became magnfied once their parties went their separate ways and they tried to remain friends, though more secretly than before ( ... )

Other than a brief catching up at the end of their dance, they didn't see each other much that night. The only time that they actually spoke was when Nick was about to leave for the hotel with Miriam. Miriam said goodbye to David and left the two men to say their goodbyes to each other. It had been a while - even though it felt like yesterday - and they never did quite get to say their goodbyes before ( ... )
