This really is hauntingly bleak, anon. As much as I enjoy a good happy ending, I love how you have managed to draw such a vivid picture of David's lack of adjustment to his current circumstances, his complete avoidance of his feelings. I really do get the sense that David will do just about anything to not think about Nick or his sense of loss at not working with Nick after the coalition has finished.

This is much darker than the usual fluffy Clameron things you have posted in the past. You wrote it so effortlessly I think I might have to have a little cry about it. D:
