It *might* be a coincidence, but ... nope. Not a coincidence.

Hello! I'm not going to respond any further to comments on this post. The most relevant information -- which I think can't be found elsewhere -- is now collected in short form in this post here. Thanks to all who contributed information and links. This was extremely interesting, and I'm going to bed now.

Thank you for passing this along. It's awful, but it's so interesting, at the same time, you know?

If only I knew how to knit!

But no, HTML coding will have to suffice.

Damn it, I know better than to go straight to your journal to comment -- the yellow is excruciating.

I just now opened up the f-list to discover the explosion, and oh my God. Wow. No idea all this was going on. Can't say I'm really surprised, though. Granted, I don't know anything about any of this, but it seems a curious coincidence, this happening right around the same time as this FanLib thing. Makes me wonder if these "Warriors of Innocence" and groups like them might not be designed to scarify fanwriters and artists so much that they rush into the embrace of a "safe haven" like FanLib. They could be acting as beaters, you know.

Just saying. Not that I'm paranoid, or anything.

Hey, I like my gaudy colors!

(But it should be possible to force lj to show you my journal in your format, I think. I'm working on the crap computer at the office and can't do much without crashing everything, but otherwise I would figure out the reset myself. Sorry.)

And do those Warriors of Innocence people have anything to do with FanLib? I doubt that. It's not like FanLib wants the Pornish Pixies crowd anyway. But no, you're not paranoid, either.

If I hit reply from gmail, I get your vomitrocious pinata, is what happens. Which I mean in a nice way.

So FanLib doesn't want/solicit explicit fics? I ask as an innocent, having stayed far away from all of it. I'm quite the Peter about all of this sort of thing -- I'm the first to turn aside, really, and say that I know not the man.

FanLib, apparently, was shocked! shocked! to discover that fans sometimes write things that are not PG. So, no, they didn't want the likes of us.

Speak for yourself. All the stories I've ever written were circumspect, modest, well-nigh Victorian fade-to-black in their treatment of human intimacies. Or is that fade-to-Black? Anyway.

*snicker*

I take it you've never read Victorian erotica, then...

Ow. The yell-ow... with hot pink across the top. You're trying to kill me.

No, they weren't surprised. The have adult fic on the FanLib site -- you have to turn off the adult filter to see it -- and their own employee jdsampson writes NC-17 brother incest in Supernatural fandom (I've read one of her stories).

Hot pink? Seriously? What browser are you using? Because I've modified almost all the colors in the original design, so what I see across the top is pale green, and the other boxes are various shades of yellow - mostly pale as well. So if people are seeing something other than that ... ouch, no wonder you're complaining! But that's what I see even when not logged in on all the computers I use, so ... hmmm ... browser issue, maybe? I'm still futzing around with IE and Netscape, if that helps.

Anyway, sorry for the error re FanLib, and sorry for any inadvertant bloodloss-through-eyeballs.

In firefox it is BLINDING. But yes for the green, and some blue. And the text is wonky from my expage era stuff. But thats what style=mine is for :)

I'm using IE right now (Mozilla crashed) and that yellow is a little brighter than a school bus, and that pink... yeowch. Worthy of the 80s.

No problem. FanLib I actually have learned something about. This journal deletion thing... Christ.

Randomly butting in,

I opened up my flist to discover the explosion too. Goodness, my severely jet-lagged mind is boggled. (6hrs difference...Oh god *withers*). And I was a little iffy since that FanLib thing recently and didn't think it was real until I explored entries that link to entries upon entries and saw what was going on.

Eh, you get another vote from the 'Nah, you're not paranoid' camp. :)

I thought of FanLib immediately. Create a big wank to distract the masses? But then I thought... FanLib's past ineptitude, it doesn't seem to fit.
