My sophomores (English II Honors) are working on memoirs, and as a good teacher should, I'm working on a model for them to work off of. I always like to make models for the students so that I can know exactly how much work goes into an assignment, so that I can show them what I'm looking for, and so that I can quell any and all complaints about how ( Read more... )

All subjects are appropriate, in an ideal situation. If you're worried about what your students will think about you? You shouldn't. If you want to show them that you're human too? Write about whatever you want. However, i think you should write about a band memory. <3

I agree with both comments. I'd pick a memory from a time in your life that they can relate to; sometime in high school would be preferable. It'll not only make the example easy to relate to, but might give them better ideas of what sorts of memories they could tap for this assignment.
