I feel like I have a much clearer handle on Clara already, now that she doesn't need to be a mystery any more. And of course I have a soft spot for teachers, particularly secondary school teachers, even if the Ian & Barbara reference wasn't totally adorable ( Read more... )

Thank you :D TBF I don't dislike him as much as it perhaps seems from the post... but I do definitely dislike him. Which is not what I expected at all :(

My partner said that she'd like the show more if it came w/ captions - since we stream it online so there's no captions.

I have a had time understanding him so I have to watch every episode twice. HAHA.

Ha! That 'say please' moment REALLY made me bristle too. I liked Deep Breath - or at least the second half. The restaurant concept appealed to my love of the surreal and macabre, and I drooled so hard over the costuming. I wasn't too keen on Saturday's episode in general though for various reasons and I'm not warming to Twelve at all...

I'm hoping it's just the usual 'new Doctor' thing, because I didn't like Eleven initially either (I know, I know, shame on me!) and then grew to love him. But yeah. Only if you say please? Fuck that, lol.

Heh, I'm glad I'm not the only one. I said "fuck you" out loud to my laptop when that happened, haha.

The restaurant concept was definitely cool.

I've always liked them more or less immediately, so it's really weird to find myself actually disliking a Doctor. His behaviour to the tramp (?) in Deep Breath was also just... fuck you, stop being horrible to random passersby!

Perhaps he just sound too Scottish but at first f did not like 11 either but he grew on me. I hope 12 will grow on me as well.

I'm hoping Twelve will grow on me too. I've never had to wait before though, I always liked the new Doctor by three-quarters of the way through their first episode at the latest. I really hope the whole Dark Doesn't Care Is A Dick To Innocent Passersby And Desperate Soldiers thing goes away quickly. PLEASE TEACH HIM BETTER CLARA WITH ALL HASTE.

I thought that too. Fingers crossed. She might be a good candidate for the Doctor's Learning To Be Less Of A Dick arc - accepting of his own darker sides and what he does to his Companions, accepting a soldier onto the TARDIS. After all, the Brigadier proves the Doctor can deal with soldiers :) And there'd be some fun adjusting, because God knows Clara's the best option for CO on that ship and I don't think Journey would even put up with her :)

The doctor is just an asshole. He reminds me a lot of 9 but about x5 worse. 'Just an asshole' sums it up. The sense that I'm meant to find him cool in his unlikability makes it all worse. And yeah, Nine was never this bad but he could be a bit similar. (And I think it's probably telling that my favourite Nine moment without doubt is "Coward or killer?" and his enormous grin and immediate answer: "coward. Every time." The whole Ruthlessly Saves The Day thing is just. Not my thing at ALL ( ... )
