It took me really ages to adjust to my new job, but was definitely worth it. And it sounds like the job's a good fit for you. *hug*

*hugs back* Yeah, it'll definitely be worth it. I just hope I can get another class soon, so I can save my deposit and get a room close to work!!

Good luck with the job. It sounds like you like it a lot which is the most important thing.

Oh my about the President's daughter. I wonder if he'll arrest her.

Thanks! I do, once I live close to it it's gonna be great. If nothing else it's been sort of reassuring that adults guess my age pretty accurately and so it's not that I look ten years older than I am, it's that all adults look alike to children :)

Apparently is a hoax! Which I feel relieved about though also faintly annoyed... I Googled to check before I posted, but I did also note the lack of major news sites with fact-checkers picking it up.

Yay for liking the new job. And omg about your Kindle. I'd have probably freaked out for a while.

Ugandan President's daughter, holy shit. Bravery in spades. Hopefully she'll be okay.

Yay indeed :) And yeah, honestly I am still slightly freaking out (UGH ALL MY BOOKS HAVE BEEN GIVEN NEW COVERS IF THEY HAVE THEM AND THEY ARE UNIFORMLY WORSE) but it's pointless so am trying to repress.

Apparently was a hoax! But given lots of fairly legit news sites picked it up I'm okay with being fooled.

I saw the thing about it being a hoax when I got back home. I find it a little worrying that legitimate news sites were quoting from a known satirical site. A few people probably got reprimanded.

I mean, in some ways she’s a lot better off than many - vigilantes have murdered and raped many queer activists, or just those suspected of being queer, in Uganda, and as the President’s daughter she presumably has a lot more security. But. I hope to God she’ll be okay.

now THAT is courage.

If anything I suspect she may be more of a target for some hatemonger (or loony) looking to make a point, win attention (or points with God, etc).

Was apparently a hoax! I did Google to check before I posted, but Googling now gives "news sites fooled by satirical news site".

BTW that is a FABULOUS icon.

Well crap on a cracker.

My sweetie fell for a satirical site reading an article about the Arizona legislature the other day (and the anti-gay law that didn't get passed IRL) and I tried to explain the concept of satirical websites to her.

"Well why would people do that?"

I think with a subject like this, maybe they shouldn't fuck around though?

Haha, I saw, yeah. I did Google before I posted and saw a bunch of actual news sites had picked it up, but now Google's first result is "bunch of news sites pick up thing from satirical site".
