It was an awesome episode. Sherlock horror movie!

I put my belief suspenders on when Sherlock supposedly didn't know Lestrade's first name, because that joke was brilliant. XD
"Is that why you're calling yourself Greg?!"

Gatiss is so good at horror - and so's the Moff, so I am not at all surprised :) Although I mostly wasn't scared. John-inna-cage was unexpectedly hot so I was mostly thinking about that :)

AHAHAHA I KNOW. The thing is I actually totally buy that one, because it seems like he'd 'delete' it - if Lestrade ever told him, cos I think he'd be all "I am DI Lestrade" until John was friendly and offered a cuppa. I know what you mean though - Sherlock tends to have stuff that doesn't quite make sense except I DON'T CARE BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME. SHERLOCK IS TOO AWESOME FOR SENSE. (You know actually that is like, a perfect tagline for the person as well as the programme!)

My impression is that Sherlock knew Lestrade's first name, having seen it written any nnumbe of times, but it never occured to him to actually *use* it, because his idea of "first name terms" is "people I actually almost *want* to spend time with" which is limited to Mycroft and John.

That completely works. On the other hand I completely credit Sherlock with having not read the IDs he's stolen, more than I credit him with having enough sense of humour to be kidding on the 'calling yourself Greg' line.

But it's true Sherlock's not a first-names-type. Public school boys, you know ;)

Am just watching the final moments of the episode, was great! I loved the original novel so much, and I'm actually surprised at how well they managed to pull this thing off.

Also, I think I had a tiny orgasm when John said that it felt good to pull rank.

It was so great! I'm not surprised at all, but that's cos I knew Gatiss shares my passion for Gothic horror :)

I think I had a tiny orgasm when John said that it felt good to pull rank.

I know. Oh my God. OH CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN.

Oh! John in a cage, John in a cage!

I was squirming all the way through that scene! I can't live-stream BBC for some reason, but the proxy works fine for iPlayer. So exited to see that it was Baskerville! I sat down the minute it was available and got to bed waaaay too late.

But it was so worth it. I loved John and really liked the Scottish pub guy.

So, more John and Sherlock as couple perception. ("Sorry, we couldn't give you guys a double", "Does yours snore, too?" Bahaha!) Where are they taking this, I wonder.

John in a caaaaaaage. Seriously, that totally worked for me as a scary scene even though I knew things would be okay, because Martin Freeman is awesome and sold the fear. And also I was trying to work it out. But distracting from all this was the HOT.

Iplayer is messing up for me, all jumpy :(

And yes. I loved John. Much as Sherlock is interesting and Irene is cool and I love mirror/parallel characters, I was very pleased with MOAR JOHN this week.

I don't think they're taking the couple-thing anywhere, tbh - I suspect it'll just be an ongoing joke. Unless, of course, it comes up as an issue in John-having-his-own-life type resentments.

Heh, cool. I've not read much of it. I have only found out today due to my excellent spoiler-avoidance that the Falls are coming up next week and plan to do all the avoiding I can :)

Haha, I can't see Sherlock submitting to Mrs Hudson, much as he adores her. However, curiosity might have him submitting to John - and also his consistent search for both stimulus and escape from his own mind, which obvs subspace and D/s can offer. Subtextually there's also an element, I think, of John taking care of Sherlock and what you could do with that.

You know, I really wasn't scared watching this one - my interest in Holmes' relationship with Gothic horror and lust for Captain!John and amusement at Sherlock being BYRONIC ON A MOOR were too distracting for such things :)

I loved loved the John/Sherlock fight. To be fair, he was a drug addict that got dosed with a neurotoxin, and his brain couldn't cope with all the stimulus (which I get sometimes, we went to Bluewater the other day, and there were too many people, and I got so stressed I couldn't cope ( ... )

You know, I hadn't thought of it that way before--that Sherlock's scared!symptoms were similar to his withdrawal!symptoms at the beginning of the ep. Somebody on sherlockbbc pointed out that in the lab sequence, you can see chemical formulae for various drugs written on a whiteboard, including cocaine...there's fic in this.

I hadn't thought of it either. klashfor is clever!

There is definitely fic in this. Maybe Sherlock having some level of withdrawal or just WANTING MOAR afterwards, especially considering the way they drew attention to Sherlock's needing cigarettes/drugs in the absence of cases to stimulate him.

I loved loved the John/Sherlock fight.

Me too! And that's a really good point about Sherlock - especially considering the red eyes when he was freaking out.

Mmm, yeah, I see that re: pandering. And I think as well it was just very tightly focussed on Sherlock (Irene was important, but her main purpose is to be a female mirror/parallel for Sherlock, I think) and then in this one it was Sherlock/John.

(shouting at Mycroft for telling Mrs Hudson to shut up was so adorable)

I KNOW OMG. And yeah, haha, loved all the little comedy moments between Sherlock and John. And yes SO MUCH sub/dom dynamic. There's something really cool about John unquestioningly following Sherlock's orders and Sherlock being so reliant on John to look after him (and keep the Crazy Eyes away.)

GATISS IS JUST SO AMAZING. LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Especially cos he's really into Gothic horror!
