I'm done reading as well, I read the first page of the epilogue and stopped and didn't read further. It won't bother me at all that I hadn't and will never read all of it. I agree it needs to be torn out. Now off to read a fic before bed.
I think I should have stopped. I read the first few paragraphs and went 'wtf?' and I KNEW it was going to be crap. But I had to finish the book, sadly. -_- Now I know I'll never be reading that bit again! Urgh, I can't believe she actually put that in there. What a load of crock.
Finished it early Sunday morning... I did enjoy it--one of the better efforts of the latter part of the series. Thought things were wrapped up pretty well, that the casualties mattered and were in proportion to the risk and the events. Thought the ending was good--loved it, actually. I've sniffled through books before--I did NOT cry during this... but it was a close thing, which is the least I expected. After so long, I wanted to be moved at least a little!!!
Epilogue... Well... I didn't mind it, but it was pretty lame. I wanted a bit of magic AND some information so that it would be worth reading, but there were NO surprises and not enough info given on what happens to everyone. Definitely left me puzzled as to why it was there at all. Although--I'm a sucker for epilogues, so I'm still glad it was there.
I'm agreeing with your sentiments on the latter half of the series. I was seriously unimpressed with 5, 6 was marginally better and I enjoyed this one. It seemed a tad rushed, but it did cover a whole to of things, and, as you said, wrapped everything up pretty well.
I was actually rather shocked that a few characters made it through - I thought there might be a higher toll then there was. But there were enough to be realistic I guess. I didn't cry, I think I was too eager to devour it, but I thought it was well done and touching in parts.
The epilogue, to me, was a big cop out. It was like, happy families and silly names. I don't know why it was there either - she should have left well enough alone. We then all could have imagined our own 'happily ever after' quite sufficiently I think... I really think I would have rather it end before the epilogue. ^^;
