I enjoyed this very much. I liked the conversation between Daniel and Teal'c.

One thing.

“Oh, I don’t know about that,” Daniel affected a breezy tone. “Jack’s not in jail or otherwise being prosecuted for breaking ‘Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.’”

I see there is still some uncertainty over how DADT works. One is merely discharged from service under this policy. One is NOT prosecuted and one does NOT go to jail. One of the most prominent protesters of the DADT policy, Lt. Dan Choi, was discharged just today under this policy and his discharge was an honorable discharge.

Of course, poetic license does rule here. If you were going for effect, and not accuracy, then I do apologize and merely say, "nicely written."

I certainly always appreciate the fact-checking, and the feedback in general. It's true I was more concerned with tone than legality--I've always figured that in the Stargate world, the NID and their ilk could use something like this hypothetical situation to their own ends which could easily result in Jack's getting in deeper trouble than that one law would cause in real life. Hence Daniel's logical ellipsis. :)

I understand the whole NID thing. And it certainly does set a different tone. It's just that whenever I read something that gets military policies, particularly DADT, incorrectly, I develop this twitch in my left eye. It's quite involuntary. A couple of writers on jackslashdaniel have actually met me and heard my rant. It's very difficult to allow for poetic license and remember that some things make the SG-1 world different from the real world. I do try. I hope I didn't offend you, that was not my intent.

Ohhh... this is so beautiful.

And this
“Careers. Team dynamics. Careful, judicious, no abuse of power for the sake of more excavation playtime. Love you ridiculously, now don’t you dare stop there.”
is the best thing in the history of ever <3

Naturally, that was when Daniel decided to gently bite it.

This had the remarkable effect of making Jack groan and go boneless on top of Daniel. Filing that interesting reaction away for later, Daniel pulled back into the couch cushions to get a better read on Jack’s face.

“Okay?”

Jack seemed to have some trouble focusing on Daniel’s eyes but managed it eventually. He pulled himself up and regarded the relieved man below him with a flash of familiar mischievous grin.

“Did I say go gentle on me?”

“You did.”

“I lied.”

LOL!! And I loved the chess set!! Such a beautiful subtlety in it, and Jack quoting poetry totally made my day. And the symbolism of Jack's surrender to it, and then Daniel's own surrender. Yay!! I'd quote more of my favorite lines, but I have a feeling I would end up quoting almost the whole thing back at you. :D

Love this to pieces!!
