my thoughts on SVU

Okay, so I've been watching SVU on netflix off and on for a few years... it's never been my favorite l&o, that was CI.  But I liked it.( Cut for ranting that I assume is basically directed at how Neal Baer ran the show... )

That's... pretty much SVU in a nutshell, yes. ;)

And it doesn't get better, does it? So basically I can expect to watch more episodes that make me angry, with the occasional gem thrown in, to be fair. And, even knowing this, will keep clicking watch next because I can't look away?

I think it gets worse. I think the 'message' became way more important than actually writing a GOOD episode. The warped everything in order to fit the message. They warped the characters in order to fit the plot, instead of preserving the characters and working the plot to fit them. It really annoyed me very much, because I felt like it was sheer laziness. Like the show was just saying "Hey, we all know why we're here. You want to see the pretty actors, and it's all about the message, so just handwave all the bad writing and accept what we're giving you, okay?"

Because, NO. I won't. You're professional writers and producers. BE BETTER.

I got to the point where I just preferred fan service eps about my ship rather than anything else. Because at least I was getting something out of it.

yeah, I totally get that. I'm still watching but... I don't know. I tend to play them when I need to do stuff around the house or sort coupons or something... it's just a bonus if I catch a really good episode.
