Flashpoint fic: Secrets

HA!  I did it.  I finished something!  Not a long something, it's pretty short, but I like how it turned out.  And I must be getting serious, I dug out my soundtrack to "The Sentinel" to listen to while working on it.  That used to be my go to music for fic writing back in the day. ;)

This is unbeta-ed, so if you notice something, go ahead and tell ( Read more... )

Nice look at the relationship between Ed and Ed's job and Sophie here. I like the idea that what he sees as his failures are the only thing he keeps from her, because he wants to protect her from the ugly side of his job. It's always interesting to see what other people get from a scene - I've always thought that Sophie pretty much knew what was in Ed's locked cabinet, even before he let her see it.

Always good to see some Sophie fic :)

That thought right there is very close to my inital notes on the story! I guess it's a story, it's a bit too long for a drabble, but it is short.

I always assumed she didn't because of how quickly he moved to close it when she started to come out into the garage, but that she knew it had been a bad day for him if he was out there.

there's not enough Sophie love, is there? I think she's great. If she were real, I'd totally want to hang out with her. ;)

See, I assumed she didn't know exactly what it was because he'd never let her see it before, but she knew what it was about.

Sophie's awesome, though she did veer wildly into crazy hormonal for a while there.

So true. I have issues with that, like, I get being older and having complications and having a husband who works long shifts, but it still seemed like an excess of crazy.

Yes! Exactly. Especially for a character who had been set up as being really supportive and understanding to suddenly leave and make the demands she made. But now she's back, and Clark's back, and Ed is totally smitten with the wee one and it all makes me happy :)

Yay! Finally got around to reading the Sophie fic! *bounces!* :oD

This was a lovely little piece that gives us some great insight into Sophie. What I really like here is that she doesn't pry even though she's frustrated as hell that Ed won't talk to her. She's dying to know what's in that cabinet, but she doesn't want to make him feel worse and also respects Ed and his need to keep this from her enough not to ask (again).

I can relate to her feelings of frustration and I can totally see her taking them out on her laundry ;o) Nicely done!

You know, that almost sounds like something out of a horror movie ;o)
