New Rules of Lifting for Life

I'm trying to figure out the phase 1 workout in The New Rules of Lifting for Life, but holy mackerel Batman! Box jumps? Really? Isn't that like asking for injury? Well, at least for me. I'm not a graceful person when it comes to quick movement, so I can perfectly picture myself jumping wrong and horrible things happening.

Your bike experience was mine, too. I was/am still such a scaredy cat. And those box jumps just look dangerous. I wouldn't try it even if I were in shape. You may better off jogging than jumping, at least it's a bit more controlled. Last Sunday I took my first yoga class and I think I'm sold on it. It only lasted an hour but my body felt noticeably better for the next three days. Lisby's been going to phyical therapy for her knee and has started looking down-right svelte. Whatever you choose to do, good luck with it - and have fun.

Oh cool, I've wanted to do yoga myself, but haven't found the right class/instructor. What kind of yoga class was it, do you know? I've tried 4-5 times, with different places, but it's either too difficult, even at yoga 101 level, which put too much strain on an injured shoulder, or so easy going that I was more like meditation.

I've avoided jogging because of a twingy knee, and have been looking for alternatives to gym machines to get my heart rate going. I actually tried jump rope a couple of days ago, to which my weak knee responded with a NO. I really want to figure out something that is fun, but have yet to find it. We have a little gym close by, which makes it easier than for most people to exercise, but elliptical and stationary machines are so boring :/ I like working with weights a little bit, but that isn't doing much for my heart.
