[Mello's not sleeping. He did get up to block the door off with his desk, like he said he would. Since then he's been deep in thought, mostly about how Matt would never agree to leave the mansion, even assuming they knew how, unless Mello could go too.

Unconditional love is new to Mello, who remembers his parents more as vague feelings than as actual people, and he's astonished, truth be told, to realize that if the only way Matt could live would be to leave Mello behind, he would let him. Hell, he'd push him out the door.

But if Matt knew this, Mello bets his reaction would make their fight outside the therapy room seem like a playground brawl. He doesn't know what to do, and that might be the feeling he hates the most in the world.

Then Matt moves in his arms, whimpers, lashes out as people do in the grip of nightmares, and Mello holds him tighter.]

Matty, hey, wake up.
