Marie sighed and stared out of the window, watching the rain pelt down outside. She couldn’t move her thoughts away from Remy no matter what she did. It was five days after the party and every moment when it seemed all was going well something would remind her of Remy. And her misery was starting to spread. Lena had been up all night, crying and refusing to sleep. Things got worse when Marie simply gave up and ran from the room. Logan had then gone to lay beside Lena while Jubilee sat in the kitchen with Marie. Jubilee and Marie agreed that Lena needed to leave the house for the day so that Marie could collect herself. Right now, Jubilee and Lena had gone to spend the day at Kitty’s house. Hearing footsteps behind her Marie wiped her tears and turned around. Logan was walking towards with two mugs. One clearly held black, sugarless coffee and the other she couldn’t figure out because of all the whipped cream and sprinkles on top. He held the whipped cream topped cup out to her.

“Here.” he said, handing her the cup.

“Thanks. What is it?”

“Hot chocolate.”

Marie smiled and carefully walked over to the sofa with her drink. She sat down and Logan sat next her to her. She used her finger to eat most of the whipped cream to clear a path to the hot chocolate. She smiled as the hot sugary drink slid down her throat.

“Mm! This is good.”

Logan chuckled and turned the on the TV. Marie suppressed a groan as he flicked through the sports channels before putting on boxing. His gaze moved slowly to her before he held out the remote. She shook her head and smiled.

“I don’t mind. We can watch this.”

“You sure? I don’t want you to be bored.”

“I’m not. I’ve got you to talk to.”

He nodded before relaxing into the sofa. Marie leaned back as well and rested her head against his shoulder.

“You know, I can’t figure you out.” She whispered.

“Why’s that?”

“You’re... different. I mean every stereotype I peg you with doesn’t stick.”

“I can say the same about you darlin’.”

She giggled and sipped her hot chocolate. They watched boxing for awhile, Marie not really paying attention, her mind wondering into the first time she met Logan. He had been wearing a suit, as if he’d just came from work, which he probably did. All the other guys had said he was a workaholic who needed to loosen up. But when they’d had sex it was the opposite. She expected a tight-ass, boring man that would fidget while she danced for him and then leave. Instead he was an untamed animal that had lit her skin on fire with every touch and gave her the best fuck of her life. She shook her head, moving her thoughts from that night before she turned herself on too much. Just thinking of their night of passion made her hot. She put her now empty cup down and placed her hand on Logan’s upper arm to catch his attention. He tore his gaze from the tv and looked into her eyes.

“What?” he asked, clearly concerned.

“Let’s get some fried chicken for dinner.”

He scrunched up his nose and shook his head.

“Nuh-uh. No way.”

“Logan! Why not?”

“That stuff makes me sick. How about we grill some steaks?”

“It’s raining!”

“So?”

“Come on Logan! I really want fried chicken!”

“And I don’t!”

“How about we fight?”

“What?”

“First one to pin the other down decides on dinner.”

“No.”

“What? Why not?”

“I don’t fight.”

Marie chuckled and shook her, standing up.

“Come on! What, you scared I’ll whip your ass?”

“No.”

“Then what?”

“Nothing.”

“Logan-“

“I said nothing Marie!”

Marie frowned and stood up. For moment she wanted to run away but instead she straddled Logan’s lap, making sure to pin his hands under her knees. He snarled at her and tried to move her but she smirked, simply digging her knee’s deeper into his hands.

“When you work as a dancer, there are a lot of guys who get grabby. I learned fast how to subdue them so that I’d never become a victim again. So don’t even try to buck me off. I’ve taken on tougher guys than you.”

“I doubt that.” He growled.

He bucked hard and yanked one hand out of her grip, then threw her off. She fell onto the floor with a thud and grimaced as pain shot through her body. She coughed and felt one of her migraines come into effect. Logan was in front of her and carefully helped her up. She started to feel dizzy and nauseous so she rested her forehead on his hard chest. He placed his arms around her and rubbed her back.

"Sorry." he whispered.

"I'm fine."

“When I was young, I always felt trapped. I spent all my time studying, trying to please my parent’s. Everything was planned for me and I hated it. During my final year of university, my father wanted me to take a part in the family business. I couldn’t say no to his face so I ran away. I lived on the street, using up all the money from my bank account. After awhile my parent’s cut me off, promising that if I came back the money would too. I couldn’t face them so I started stealing and fighting to survive. Eventually I was involved with an underground syndicate that organised street fights. I was their best fighter. They called me the Wolverine. But during my last fight, I was beating this other guy when I heard a scream. I looked up and saw Jubilee. She was just a kid then, a little girl trying to bring back her brother and her expression was pure torture to me. When she looked at me, she was scared. Scared of me. I was meant to be her big brother. I was meant to protect her. I realised then that I couldn’t carry on living that life. I went home and promised myself that I’d never fight again. My father got me an internship at his friend’s company and I became an ordinary business man working his way to the top.”

Marie blinked, not realising that at some point she had started crying, hearing Logan’s story. He smiled sadly and wiped her tears.

“I’m sorry.” She whispered.

“Don’t be. You didn’t know.”

“Do you still feel trapped?”

“Sometimes. But I have people in my life that take away that feeling.”

Marie finally understood why she always felt confused around him. He had two sides to him that had not yet joined together. There was the side that he showed the world, the business man who worked and worked, doing nothing else. Then there was the rebel that was fighting in the background to be seen but losing. Marie carefully moved out of his embrace and stood up. She still felt a little dizzy and decided to get some fresh air.

“I need to go somewhere. I’ll back later.”

She grabbed her purse from the table and slipped her boots on.

“Marie?”

“Yeah?”

“You’re okay, right?”

“Yeah. Just fine. I’ll see you later.”

“Marie, I can’t-“

“Please Hank?”

“I told you, with a balanced diet, regularly exercise and a proper night’s rest, you’ll be fine.”

“And I told you that I’m a single mother, I don’t have time for that. Please, just give me the medication!”

“Using antibiotics won’t solve the problem.”

“Please! This is the last time.”

Hank sighed before handing over the bottle of pills. Marie smiled and kissed his cheek. Hank had been her doctor since she fell pregnant with Lena. He ran a private practice and had gladly taken her in when she had had no money. He was also the one that found her the job at the diner. Marie collected her bag and headed outside. She happily skipped out the front door as she noticed the rain had stopped and the sun was shining. She stopped when she noticed the familiar red convertible outside the building next to her own rust heap of a car. Which was currently smoking from the front. She groaned and winced as a hand clamped down on her shoulder.

“Looks like you need a ride, chere.”

“How did you know where I was?”

He didn’t answer, merely guided her towards his car. She hesitantly climbed in and folded her arms. Remy hopped in and revved up the engine.

“Forgot how much of a stalker you are.” She muttered.

“I saw your car pass by on my way somewhere.”

“Whatever, Remy.”

He pulled out of the parking lot and drove towards the direction of Logan’s house. Marie refused to speak to him the whole way there and sighed in relief as they arrived at the house. Marie moved climbed out and hurried to the front door. It flew opened and Logan stomped out. He pushed her behind him and took a menacing step towards Remy. Marie latched onto his arm lightly, knowing he wouldn’t attack. At least she hoped so.

“What the fuck are you doing here?” yelled Logan.

“Just giving Marie a ride home. Her car has given up.”

“And you happened to be conveniently in the neighbourhood?”

“Actually, I was looking for Marie. I would like to speak with her.”

Marie moved to stand next to Logan and nodded at Remy, indicating for him to speak.

“Chere, I want you to come live with me.”

“What? Are you insane?”screamed Marie.

“No, I love you. I never stopped.”

“You’re married, Remy!”

Remy shook his head and took a step forward.

“If I truly loved my wife, why would I live as far as possible from her? I wish I could leave her but it’s complicated. Divorce would ruin my family!”

“Remy-“

“I love you chere. I want to be with you.”

“She’s fine here.” hissed Logan.

Remy scoffed and rolled his eyes.

“You have no right to interfere, Logan. Marie is merely your little sister’s friend. Unless there’s something else... but why would there be? You’re after all engaged, are you not?”

Remy chuckled as Logan clenched his fists. Marie took a deep breath and stepped forward.

“This is just temporary, until I move into Xavier’s School. Logan’s just helping a friend.”

“Live at the school and soon you’ll feel lonely. Especially at night when it’s just you in your room. Live with me and you’ll have a family again. Your daughter will get the life she needs.”

“I...I’ll think about it.”

“That’s all I ask.” Said Remy.

He turned around and headed back towards his car. Marie walked back into the house, Logan following. She threw her bag on the floor and headed to the kitchen to get some water.

“You’ll think about it?” yelled Logan.

Marie groaned and stopped, pivoting to face Logan.

“What was I supposed to say? He obviously wasn’t going to give up.”

“You could have said no.”

“He was offering a chance for a change in my life. Was I meant to give up that opportunity?”

“You’re not thinking clearly about this. You’re just scared.”

“You don’t understand!”

“Understand what?”

“I love him. I never stopped. And neither did he. Don’t I deserve happiness?”

“He’ll just hurt you again. You can do so much better!”

“Why are you so worked up about this, Logan?”

“I’m not!”

“Yes you are! Tell me why?”

“It’s nothing.”

“Don't give me that it's nothing bullshit again!”

“Just...”

He reached forwards suddenly and pulled her towards him. She stiffened as their lips met before she groaned and wrapped her arms around his neck. His hands snaked under her and pulled legs up, causing her to instinctively wrap them around him. The kiss was fierce and fuelled with sexual tension. She moaned and dug her fingers into his hair. His large hands rested on her bottom as he moved towards the wall, allowing it to support her back. She broke the kiss, gasping for air and her gasps soon turned into moans as he nipped and sucked her neck before biting her collarbone. She yelped and felt her panties drench as his erection brushed over her entrance. One of his hands slid to the front and popped the button of her jeans before pulling down her zipper. She panted as his hand slid into her jeans and rubbed her through her soaked panties.

“Logan!” she gasped.

He groaned as she moved one of her hands down to cup his erection. She started to rub him in the same rhythm as he rubbed her and smiled as he began thrusting into her hand. The door flying open caused her to stiffen but Logan seemed to carry on, not noticing someone entering.

“Hey, we’re back.... Oh my god, what are you doing?”

Logan froze before putting Marie down. Logan move to shield Marie as she tried to straighten her clothes out but remembered his erection and moved behind her. Marie quickly zipped her jeans back up and tried to look more composed.

“Jubes, you’re back... Lena! Hey baby.”

“Mommy!”

Lena ran towards her and Marie bent down to scoop up her child. She avoided eye contact with Logan and Jubilee and headed straight towards Lena’s room. Jubilee followed her in and closed the door.

“I’m sorry Jubes. I just... he... we... um....”

“I’m not angry. Just ... confused.”

“It was an accident ... spur of the moment thing. Logan must miss his fiancé.”

“Sure, that’s it.” scoffed Jubilee.

“You should go talk to him. He’s your brother and may think that you hate him.”

Jubilee nodded and walked out of the room. Marie took a deep breath and shook her head. She looked at Lena who was looking at her with huge adoring eyes.

“We need to leave here soon.”
