I have trouble not imagining "Trading Places" when I think about members-only clubs, though the idea of a place you can relax without the hoi-polloi does have its charms -- especially after last night's dinner at John Thomas, with the loud party of 14 seated next to us partway through our meal.

If I lived in NYC, and had the dough, I'd probably join the Cornell Club.

Living in NYC one's whole life (save for three years in Ithaca) means that I'd kill for someplace quiet that's not my pad.

Cornell Club's not convenient to my house, is the problem, although it is near to work. I do like it and stop by when I can.
