I expect Argentina to park the bus. They don’t want Germany to score first, because that will force them to open up at certain point, which would expose their reality: their defense is good because it is being overprotected. So I assume that stance will allow the German midfield to adventure (cautiously) near the box, stressing the two lines of four, to concede enough free kicks within the first half hour for Germany to score a goal

Good morning from the US. I'm nearly hysterical with fear, so after I edit my ONTD post, I'm going grocery shopping to keep my mind off things.
I picked up my neighbor's newspaper this morning, as they are away, and it's the NY Times, with (yet another) spread about how Messi is great and all but Argentinians view him with suspicion because he's not El Pibe Maradona. Ungrateful bastards! Come to terms with the fact that he's not a hyper-emotional risk-taking soul-baring show-off, and get over yourselves.
Praying Germany has a good game, and all goes well for us... Also, Jogi? Put Poldi on at some point, please.
I thought about going to a bar for this match. But I'm pretty sure that I will cry regardless of the result, so I'll just stay at home. Germany has improved during the tournament so I hope that they can keep that up. As for Argentina. They showed their weaknesses during the group stages, where Messi pulled them through. They haven't been that impressive in the knock-out stages. Belgium and Switzerland were too young and inexperienced to beat Argentina. The Dutch followed more or less the same tactic as Argentina and both teams cancelled each other out.
Fitness could be important too. Germany had a day more of a rest and an easy game. Argentina went through ET for the second time this tournament and Messi still doesn't look fit.
Apparently his dad has mentioned that he's tired and "his legs feel like they weight 100 pounds each". I'm sorry to say - because I do love the guy - that I was happy to read that and hoped it was true!
Yes, the extra day of rest - I hope it will help. And Philipp in defense to ward off the little genius.
I understand why he feels like that though. He was overplayed for the last 8 years or so. The boy never got any rest, I can't think of matches where he was on the bench.

This is a high pressure situation. I'd be flat without pressure though so I thrive on it.

And yes! I've waiting for Poldi to come on. Thankfully he stays his happy self.

But tonight cannot be his night.
