Jogi is reporting seven unnamed players exhibiting flulike symptoms today, not including Mats Hummels, who is recovering and should be fit for the match on Friday. Evidently his symptoms worsened on the second day before getting better, so we can probably expect the same of those players tomorrow. Which, you know, brings their fitness on Friday ( Read more... )

According to news section on the DFB homepage, everyone except Kramer (and Mustafi, obviously) could participate in training today, incl. Hummels and Podolski. I read a comment about seven players having a light flu somewhere else on twitter, but haven't seen any official statement concerning that. So I wouldn't worry too much!!

The source link is to a direct soundbite of Jogi mentioning both the flu and the fact that Mats's symptoms worsened on the second day (which would be tomorrow for those guys). I think that's as official as it gets. D:

Oops, didn't even see the link. Unfortunately, it doesn't say when it was recorded. He's talking about light flu symptoms and then about players complaining about sore throats - for me there's still a difference between a flu and a sore throat. So still, I wouldn't worry too much, with all that travelling and air conditioning everywhere, a sore throat is not that uncommon but doesn't necessarily have to lead to anything serious.

Which is what he also says: He doesn't want to make it sound worse than it is, so at the moment it's nothing more than a sore throat ;)

Yeah, right now it's more the fact that seven players have it that worries me. :P

so when the team inevitably crashes out in spectacular fashion we can blame it on sickness and not jogi's tactics

yes okay

It's Psychology Not Tactics say Kit Holden

Uh no Kit, actually it's the tactics. If Jogi oould get his head out of Pep's posterior, we'd stand a fighting chance. Well, maybe, given the bunch of crocks passing for team Germany atm.

I wouldn't even say it's tactics at this point!!!

It's completely ignoring what worked so well because idk - to prove you can.

TBQF - I was thinking this morning. What did Klinsmann, who was chewed out for not caring about tactics or something or other - do during his World Cup tenure?
- get them to the semis

What has Jogi done with all this talk of tactics and upping things and new young'ins?
- get them to the semis
- get them to the semis
- get them to the semis

Feh!

This is going to be some kind of July 4th for me. Thank God it's the earlier game, not the dinner time one here on the East Coast.
