we did lose to them twice though, twice because their midfield tore us to pieces
but i agree, we have world class players too! just because not one person in our team takes all the glory to himself, we arent as 'popular' so to speak.
lahm is one of the best fullbacks, and the power schweini posses on the field is immense.
i think muller and ozil are a bit too young and new on the scene to win something like the ballon d'or. as much as id love to see them win this, they have many years to prove themselves.
klose.. if there were a ballon d'or for the most rule-abiding and classiest footballers he'd win this. he has a head of steal and he's a goal scorer tbh i dnt see him on the pitch at all unless hes scoring, i dont notice his game play
I too don't think Miro will win this because he played so seldom and unsuccessful in the bundesliga and also isn't just made of 'star material' - but when you say you 'don't notice his game play' that could have to do with the kind of commentary you watch the matches with. When I watch with English commentary they aren't mentioning much of the successful yet subtle work Miro does in the lower middle field or in the penalty box before a shoot of another player. Take for example everything he did for his fellow players in the Azerbaijan match, and the German reporter was full of praise for his actions. I guess it is quite natural that when someone comments for his own countries players it all sounds kinda more enthusiastic and points out a lot of things that the foreign reporters don't find worth to mention and that a lot of the audience didn't notice by themselves because of the camera angle. Though it might have to with me being a football newbie ^__^ but I did not notice a lot of the smaller stuff on the pitch the German commentator
( ... )
OT, but can anyone tell me why Miro didn't play in the last World Cup match against Uruguay? Was it by choice or not? I read somewhere that he chose to sit it out but I no longer have a source -__- any help greatly appreciated!
He had some back problems/pains from a previous game, so they didn't want to mess with that. It was really iffy as to whether he would play and he decided against it basically morning of.
To add to his classiness, iirc Jogi offered Miro the choice to play, but Miro refused because he wouldn't be 100% and he didn't want to do that to his team. AWWW MIRO how so wonderful? :') I was so sad that he didn't get a chance to go for the goals, but at least we got to see him smiling with the third place medal.
