This is so meta. You have the characters re-reimagined in Victorian times and they're talking about their literary counterparts. I love that setting the story in the past allows Moffat and Gatiss to poke fun at the original stories even more. Watson's moustache line made me laugh.

OMG! I have to confess that I've never gotten into Sherlock, but I found that scene hilarious. I would totally watch that special!

It sounds like the special is a one off, not connected to the current continuity, so it would definitely be a good episode to watch if you're not a regular viewer.

I totally expect people to mash up scenes from the special with scenes of Vastra, Jenny, and Strax. I mean, how could you not? :-)
