I haven't heard anything concrete on when it's coming back. You just get a trailer of Sherlock walking into rooms all dramatic. :-)

New Year's worked well last time. Maybe it'll be the same for season three?

Benedict had a good turn in the Star Trek movie, but emo Sherlock is so much better.

I want the moment when they meet again to be all "You're alive! But how?!" but I have a feeling that John's going to punch Sherlock in the face.

I'm sure the moustache is there to sort of signify how boring John's life has been since Sherlock "died" (kind of like Rory's ponytail in "Amy's Choice"), and him shaving it shows that he's back to being Sherlock's partner.

But it's still ugly. :-)

I think the best I could do would be to Photoshop some comically large moustaches onto John and Sherlock. Oh man, that would be hilariously weird Halloween costumes: Mario!John and Luigi!Sherlock. :-D
