CCEE 2013: A full weekend report

There was no way the expo was going to top last year, so I think they focused on making a better show. No lock outs this time. Actually, it seemed to move pretty well Friday and Saturday. Lots of crowds, obviously, but they kept everyone moving in an orderly fashion.

Wow, that sounds like a really fun weekend! Your costumes are super cute. I very much agree with your point about how great it is that cons are places where strangers can chat based on a common interest.

I adore that photo you linked of John Barrowman and Nathan Fillion. It's the Captains Tightpants!

When you're in line waiting to get an autograph or a photo, there's not much else to do but talk to people. I had some great conversations with people whose names I didn't even know. I even friended some of the Who cosplayers on Facebook after the parade. Whoo, making friends through geekiness!

I wonder if Nathan knew who John was. John had a funny story about meeting Carrie Fisher at the expo and she had no idea who he was.

Sounds like a fun time... and guess what? After reading this I just checked out Fan Expo (since they usually announce guests in early May)...

Nathan's coming here, too! Woot!

Finally Canada's getting some love!

So, I guess it's safe to say I'm going to Fan Expo this year. :)

Addendum: Apparently we're getting a bunch of the same guests you did... RDA, Lena Headley, and Stan Lee.

We're also getting Morena again.

I think this is Nathan's con summer. He's doing Ottawa, too.

Somewhere on Natha's Twitter he invited Morena to come do cons with him, so maybe Toronto was her taking him up on that invite.

Sorry for popping in on your journal like this, and I hope it's okay to leave a comment, but I had to say that I really enjoyed your post on CCEE, especially your descriptions of John Barrowman and Nathan Fillion. I missed CCEE because I was out of the country (although, after what happened last year, I was rather glad not to have to deal with the crowds. Luckily I was in before the lock-out.) However, it did mean that I missed John B.'s antics...

I agree with you, though -- we definitely need more Doctor Who here!!

Nah, comment away. You're a fellow Calgarian from the sound of things. :-)

I've been going to CCEE for, gosh, seven years now, I think. The first one I went to was in the Red and White Club at McMahon stadium. I was so stoked when they got Nathan to attend this year. And he went home to Edmonton right after. Aw....

But yes, more Doctor Who guests, please! Still, I met a great group of fans this year and I can't wait to see them all again in April.
