I'm sitting in a coffee house close to Edmonton. Caffeine and internet are returning my sanity. Funny thing is they are normally what makes me go kinda crazy, and driving is the calming element. Weird.
Brain operates on four levels of activity. Beta being normal 13-30 cycles per second. Alpha being a rested state 9-14 cycles per second. Theta being a daydream state 5-8 cycles per second. Then Delta which is deep dreamless sleep 1-4 cycles per second.
The thing is most people when they're meditating are trying to reach the theta state of activity, but when people go on long drives they tend to automatically reach that theta level of activity.
Of course this could all be a load, it's from palahniuk's new book, which is kind of a science fiction kind of not, the way he tends to put factual trivia bits into his books it could be true or false.

But Rant is an awesome book imo.
Hope all is well.
