If you go to nytimes.com *right now*, you'll see that the main image is a shot from Blade Runner. This makes me happy.

Also, I've decided that being frustrated with your friends is still better than not having them. Which I guess is obvious, but still. Sometimes you need to decide it.

Yay!

I just finished reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, by the way. It is astonishingly not like Blade Runner!

Androids is one of the few Philip K Dick books that I absolutely love. I found that despite being completely different from Blade Runner in terms of character, plot and setting, that they both resonated with me in the same way. Which is to say, both left me with haunting imagery about what it means to be myself, despite going about it in relatively different manners. (Though they certainly lead to startlingly different conclusions about the difference between android and man.)

Basically, I love Ridley Scott. :P I feel like Blade Runner captured the soul of Androids without actually doing any of the same things the same way. Also, he made Alien and he made Legend, both of which are also awesome. If only 80's sci-fi started coming back...

(Blade Runner, the adventure game, BTW, ties the two more closely together. Although taking place in the film universe, it's a separate plot, and uses a lot more elements from the book. Words like "kipple" show up a lot more, and the pets play a big role, etc.)
