Unfortunately there are people in this world who will abuse people who bend over backward for them. It's just how they are. They either don't acknowledge or downright attack people who help.
That said, will the feeling that you missed out and might have had a good time be more powerful than the feelings you'll have if you go and don't have a good time for some reason? I think the odds are in your favor for attending. I'm not sur ewhat to say on the helping out with photos and slides thing though.
Did you mean (the first bit for the line break) in response to letting them use the slideshow of past performances or something else?
I started the semester with a desire for them not to use anything I've contributed, but I knew that would be impossible. This mean writing their own call-back script (not call-backs but the actual document I spent days working on) and creating Time Warp choreography from scratch. But I knew I couldn't enforce that. Hell, last year they didn't even seem to realize I wrote the damn thing even though I gave them the files the year before.
But I feel the photographs (most but not all are mine) are my creative property. Admittedly I did not copyright these pictures... Last year Gigi wanted to use these pictures for advertisement. The site actually states to ask for permission and credit - but she did not. I told her to and she still did not. That upset me last year and left me little faith that she respects such. Hell, I even said we could just make our own LOLcat RHPS pics if she didn't want

Okay, I guess that came out in a worse tone than I meant - part of the overall mood when writing it.
What I meant is that many of my friends on campus are in Film Society so would be there anyway - and not really able to hang out since they'd be working and I'm not working. Many people I've spoken to this weekend are not available to hang out at all let alone RHPS. Others I know would not be interested in going to RHPS.
But it is true I haven't asked everyone. I'm used to actively encouraging everyone I know to attend the show and I haven't heard a big outcry of people who are going this year.
I've only ever been to one RHPS, and I've been meaning to go again... I'd been toying with the idea, particularly after what happened to you, believe it or not. Part of it is sheer morbid fascination; I want to see if it turns into a car wreck you can't take your eyes off. ^_~ But the only way I could go would be if I could get a ride, since I don't drive at night any more (curse you, night blindness... curse you...).
So I guess the answer is a qualified yes. *blinks*
Well, I don't expect it to be a train wreck. Or a car wreck. Maybe a bicycle wreck? Hah. No, I expect the cast to still pull it together. Oh, I'm sure I'll see where things are rough because I know the show better than most going but I can see that every year, even years I was directing and acting. But the audience usually doesn't know what "should have" or "could have" happened.
We've not gotten professional actors for each role; sometimes not even amateur - as in sometimes people who just didn't give a damn. So it's never stellar. But the audience goes for the experience and I expect the cast to still put together a good show, regardless of the directors. One of the directors has no clue how to be a person and the other might been spineless over the summer but she might be able to at least direct. We'll see.
Hrm... I don't know where you live or exactly what my plans are before hand... and still waiting on getting my car back. But it's an idea to consider. I will warn you that I'm often an incorrigible flirt during RHPS.
I don't see any reason not to go, if things get really bad I suppose you could leave then but otherwise you'll just be thinking about it anyway, won't you?
As far as photography, I would only take pictures that you want for yourself, as far as the slide show screw them - they can find their own pictures if they didn't want you around so badly.
I think you should go, and if at all possible, bring meghan1313. If you do not go, then you will feel miserable because you might have had a good time. If you go, and you have a bad time, you can leave early and go to Denny's all dressed up. ;) If you go and you have a good time, then that's what you want, right? :)
However, I echo dangerduckie21: Don't give them your slide show. It sounds like you wouldn't get credited for it, so no one would know it was yours (plus they'd have it for every year after this, too). Do take pictures, but only take pictures that you want for yourself. If you have one or two friends still in the cast, then get pictures with them, and if they want a copy then great - but don't take the pictures for them, take them for you
( ... )
Members of the cast who are still my friends expressed a desire to have the slide show. Though even if I did think to, it's so late in the game it's not worth the effort to get it done. Plus you bring up the fact that this way I keep the copies and control it. The other hand, it's something I put a lot of work into and would love it utilized. Oh well.
Oh, I will be missing out what the cast normally does afterward - as I won't be doing any clean-up and getting to leave an hour before them. =D

Well, now that would depend a lot on which friends you asked, wouldn't it...?
