I still need an SCA name. Even if you're not in the SCA, feel free to read and comment.
I want to go with late sixteenth century Italian since my main focus is commedia dell'arte. Because of this, I have a list of commedia actors from that time period, from Masks, Mimes and Miracles: Studies in the Popular Theatre by Allardyce Nicoll. I made up a collection of given names and family names I like for one reason or another. Obviously I will not be using a full name of a person that actually existed, but this is a list of real names. At least I think it is. I'm no expert on Italian names of the Renaissance so this would have to be checked to make sure Nicoll's info is correct. Plus it's possible I'd be combining two names that never went together in Period, especially with the separate city-states in Italy at the time. It's possible some of these names came post-Period but I imagine these names were around a few decades earlier than the actors listed.
Still, it's a list of possible choices to examine and narrow down. I'd love to read your opinions on these. I hope to submit a name this summer.

There might be an ability do a name that is "a person from a place" kind of thing. I saw a "da Bologna" in the list, not as a last name and Bologna is a place. It's very important in commedia as Dottore claims to have gotten his degree from there. Plus... well, it's damn fun in English, even if pronounced differently.
This all being said, I might want to not give myself a whimsical, foolish name as my personal probably wouldn't have been named in such a way before he became a commedia player. Even those born into commedia families didn't get silly names, as far as I can tell. Though some commedia characters received their names from the actor who played them.
