*hugs*

Fingers crossed there'll be no injuries/fatalities - it sounds like it was relatively low impact as plane crashes go.

Oh shit. I wish I could offer some words of comfort or something, but this is exactly why I don't travel very often... planes scare the shit out of me.

*hugs*

I think as well as being shit scared of planes, shitty things always seem to happen when we go on family holidays.

The first time, Princess Diana died.
The second, Holly and Jessica were killed by Ian Huntly.
The third time, we were due to fly out on the 15th September to Florida and 9/11 happened and our flight was cancelled and we didn't end up going.
The final time, we actually got to go to Florida and then got stuck there for four extra days because of Hurricane Francis.

I have the worst luck with holidays... which makes me even more anxious that something will go wrong with the actual plane when I'm on it!

fear not, everyone seems to be ok - we're always on top of these things ;)

and as i said many times since i first heard about this, if i'm on a plane that has to crash, i'd want it to happen exactly this way!

we've seen a lot of bad crashes, but this one is actually good (comparatively) cos they were barely up when it happened, they went right into the water slowly enough that it didn't tear open the bottom of the plane, & they wound up right between all kinds of commuter ferries which were there immediately to pick people up! easy peasy!

i've read that it was a flock of seagulls... *snorts* that got sucked up into the engines and that's what has caused the plane to not get much momentum and slid right into the river...

well, you could look at it that it actually lowers chances, statistically, of something happening for your flight?

are the people on the flight ok?

as i understand, they are all ok, and everyone got out safely.

Steve always told me that I had a better shot of winning the lottery than being in a plane crash. So if I ever win the lottery, I will never fly again.

That happened the day before I flew the first time ever! I was 18, was coming to NY for the first time and I was by myself. I didn't know about it until I got on the plane and all the people around me were talking about it as if it were no big deal...I freaked the fuck out...they stopped talking about it. Turns out, that happens alot...when I got there, I saw why...here is the run way, like six feet from the end of that, is the water...

Deep breaths...everything will be fine!
