It's to distract us from what THEY think is important. It works for the small brains who follow religion. It sets fire under their asses and they want to burn everything down.
"But... but... some guy might pretend to be a woman in order to sneak into a bathroom to see actual lady parts!"
Um... they don't even have to pretend now to go into a women's public bathroom. It's not like there's a guard on the door.
I think it says a lot about the men (and it's mostly men) who push this idea, because they seem to be thinking, "Hey, I would do it if I could get away with it, so others must be the same!"
You notice they rarely mention transgender men going into the men's room? That's because a trans male is much more likely to be the target in that situation. And "they" don't see them as real men anyway, so they're not going to be molesting men, young or old.
I've lost count of how many times I've been at a movie theater or convention and women would essentially "take over" a men's bathroom. Theoretically there's more women's bathrooms, but if the audience is majority female, that doesn't really help a lot. So women start going into the men's room that doesn't have a line of people waiting, and if it's really bad, I've seen them outright turn it into a women's room for a bit. And the world didn't end!
I'm in Oregon. I agree, some places in the southern US seem to think this is such a big deal. My point was that I feel like we have bigger issues to deal with, such as our potential political leaders and mass shootings. So, the bathroom bill doesn't need to BE a bill because we as a country shouldn't care about what gender someone biologically is :-/

I'm beginning to hate this country.

I read some quote from Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick (Texas) that said this ALL started when they took prayer out of schools. *head desk*
Because, yet again, Christians are being marginalized. *eyeroll*
